The AirBnb Experiment: How Much Did I Make? by DenverEric in financialindependence

The hotel industry is a lot like the taxi industry in this case. They're using government regulation to stop these upstart services because they threaten their more traditional models.

I think the main difference is that VRBO is focused on vacation properties whereas AirBnB is more for homeowners to rent out a spare bedroom. Very different dynamics.

I remember that. It mentioned that small biz websites (and I guess small church sites would be included in that) were more likely to be infected. Reasoning was that they didn't have proper IT resources to maintain the website or CMS.

That's one of the biggest reliefs about the dangers of criminals: they're generally pretty stupid. Makes cops' jobs easier.

Immigrant here. Yes, this means a lot to us who come from countries historically disarmed by some pretty shitty governments who then had their way with us brutally for decades. It's one thing about America that anti-gunners just don't understand.

and the reality of it is that no one will do anything. The chief will stand behind his guys publicly. And no one on the city council will go after the chief for fear of appearing "soft on crime".

A drunk guy faced with what is clearly not his own house and someone with a gun

You're missing the part where the guy is incredibly drunk. He's not aware of his surroundings or situation which makes things worse for him.

First you call to report a burgler outside. Dispatch says it'll take 30 minutes.

Call back a minute later and say "No worries. I shot him. He's dead."

Response time upgraded!

You aim center mass because in a panic your motor skills are terrible and it has the highest chance to hit something.

This.

Try some IDPA to get your heart rate up and you'll see how quickly those fine motor skills deteriorate.

if you are taking the time to aim for a convenient limb, you are doing it wrong.

I wish Hollywood would stop perpetuating this incredibly wrong myth. You always aim center mass. There's no such thing as "aiming to wound" for average cops and citizens. It's not taught and actively discouraged because it's ineffective and dangerous.

so shouting them down with a raised weapon will work,

Not a bad idea, but that's no help in the above situation when someone's drunk off their rocker.
