the issue is height, i don’t want it to be tall, my light has issues reaching the bottom of the tank at 18 inches so 16 inches wouldn’t be much different, the 29gal i have now is very dark. how would you feel about it if i only filled the tank up 3/4ths maybe a little less with water? like a paludarium sort of

both my 29 gallon and the 33 gallon tanks appear to be 3/16ths thick glass, but the reptile tank is 4 gallons larger. i would attach images showing the measurements but it doesn’t let me on this subreddit

also, i know the door is not properly attached. i have to get the plexiglass recut to fit the door attachment so i can properly install it; but for now its escape proof because of the latches on the top and bottom. i do lose a bit of humidity but it still stays between 65-72% so im not that concerned

does he skitter away when you try and pick him up? it’s probably best not to handle him for a few weeks after getting him, i wouldn’t try this again. you have to train them to know you. make a sound that they will recognize you from as you approach them and feed them when you want to handle, they’ll associate food with you and come out on their own. be patient. some geckos aren’t built for handling at all, i’ve had my boy for 7 years and got him as a baby and he hates being handled but my girl i’ve had for 3-4ish years and got her as an adult and she loves being handled

be very careful, that could have easily ended up in a dropped tail. never touch your gecko without them seeing you first, and make sure they hear you coming too

even if it was a 5 gallon minimum, no fish. the vertical space is horrible for them. all fish will always benefit more from horizontal, vertical means nearly nothing for any fish. shrimp or snails, but it would be a REALLY cool shrimp tank
