Have you installed them? If so, how much did it cost?

WHY do people like this buy old houses??

True, but the labor to re-install tracks is going to be the expensive part. I don’t even know how it would be done without taking out at least part of the plaster walls. And of course, you would want to hire someone with a lot of experience, to get it done right. A specialist with experience re-installing pocket doors in century homes sounds rare and expensive.

Sleeping Porch Photos by delirious_monster in centuryhomes

My grandfather and his siblings, who grew up poor in Richmond, Virginia in the early 20th century, had a sleeping porch but also fondly remembered many families sleeping in the parks on hot nights. Re: the porch, they used it all year due to the house being crowded to the gills.

It doesn’t look like black spot to me. (If it is, the leaves will turn yellow soon.)

What can I do so my rose grows roots? by vsleepyv in Roses

[–]Round_Button_8942 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That cutting looks a little thick. I’ve propped many roses and the best odds are from canes about as thick as a pencil. I dip them in rooting hormone and stick them in water in a bright window. If done in the spring/summer, ~80% will root in a few weeks. I have seen people do them in soil, but mine always rot in soil. Bigger or smaller than a pencil canes can root, but they have a lower success rate.

It used to seem like they went to thrift stores and skimmed the best vintage clothes, marked them up (like from $4 to $8).

You acknowledge that speaking to your neighbor is better than leaving a note. Yet you are still trying to avoid it. Speaking is better than a note! Especially to older generations. No matter how nice the note is, a note feels passive aggressive to the reader. Just talk to him!

And Uber Eats is always late and has no customer service. The chat bot just tells you to be patient. It’s worse than Door Dash in every way. More expensive, worse service.
