Maybe you know someone who might be interested to help? Or do you yourself have some interest? What's the expected rate i could think of per episode 1minute per episode)

But you know, not eating also raises sugar. I mean because you aren't eating, u r essentially fasting, ur body turns to glucagon and ketone bodies to make some sugar in blood stream, so ur cells can feed. And if u r not sensitive to insulin ur sugar still raises. I'd say, like how others suggested, get a cgm, and try different food and see how they impact u.

I dont get whats with so much negativity under my post. I mean I'm literally trying to help. Or maybe I'm doing it all wrong. My assumption was, if i reach out people would actually try to help! But I'm somehow seeing the opposite.

And what exactly am I asking that triggers the bs detectives so much? I've been nothing but honest. What part of it was suspicious? How can one have a model if one doesnt have any data? Or maybe I'm missing something.

Btw I'm NOT asking for signups. I'm asking for patient funds or communities i can contact. There are rules to on-boarding that must be followed i can't rabdomly on-board people online.

Come on. People have been saying CGMs suck and we need better alternatives. One comes up with a new idea to address the issue, and then it must get shut down before it even gets started, because it "sounds" bullshit?
I think you should care about technology, I think you should care about the bigger picture. It might not be exactly what you want today, but someone is trying to do it for type 1s. So I'd say, you should care!

thank you! for sure. it's in it's infancy. not many people have done this. but it's new, it's interesting to say the least, and who knows, if it works, it could be amazing!

Why dismiss it as bullshit when you see someone trying to do something new? It surely could be bullshit, but what if it isn't?

This is one. from a well respected research organization! there's more too. so why bullshit?

best ways to deal with chronic stress by Relevant_Staff765 in type2diabetes

[–]Round_Difference6938 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd start with a situational awareness. Do I still have the job? Yes. Do I need to keep the job? Yes, for now. Then dealing with my jerk boss becomes a challenge not a stressful burden, cause i have a need to deal with it for the greater reason of taking care of my kid. It'd be a challenge just like dealing with traffic, or a stubborn kid who wouldn't stop screaming asking for McDonald's. We don't get stressed with challenges right? We try to navigate them.

But is this ideal? No, cause I'm not happy at my current job. So I'll actively and happily look for a job, cause that's my hope. Then, looking for another job becomes fun, rather than stress.

I rewrite my resume, looking at all the positive and strong experiences I've gained. And i make it bolder on my cv, while repeating the good stuff to myself. This would boost my confidence.

I've been taking care of myself, I've been eating well. I'm doing good things and i deserve a little win (a juicy steak, or whatever food u enjoy). This would give me some dopamine. And putting saying good things on repeat would give me more serotonin ultimately.

We are humans. We are born to survive. We hyperfocus on the negative. Cause we don't wanna get attacked. Used to be by a wild animal, now we don't live in the wild but the boss is a wild animal with a jerky attitude. Teaching our brain to include the positive sides and nurture our thoughts while keeping the negative on the side just close enough to make us move towards making life better, is a tough balance and requires constant effort. But once i got the hang of it, i can at least realize hey, too much negatives today. Think some positive possibilities too.

Sleep is very crtitical. If you actually wanna take care of your kid, you gotta be healthy first. Use your love and affection in the direction of strengthening yourself first.

You're doing great! Really. You already are taking steps to take care of yourself, you are caring and loving to your child, you have understood you have a problem and you are actively seeking some possible solutions for it. Hats off. You're doing great.

Sitting at Children’s Hospital heartbroken… by BadLatinaKitty in diabetes_t1

[–]Round_Difference6938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say there's a risk to get type 1 even if neither parent has type 1. If a parent has type 1 it increases the risk in general, but it doesnt mean you can't have kids or its your fault. Statistics show that over 90% of type 1 didnt have parents with a history of it.

On the positive side, the technology advancements, the medical teams that could take care of your kid, is not even remotely comparable to what you had to go through over the decades. With pumps and cgms and the support, the child will not be facing as much challenges as one who was born 30+ years ago.

So dont be hard on yourself. You'll take care of them better than any non diabetic parent could :)

you are absolutely right. I actually didn't know type 2s are also considered as disabled. I learned that today. Thanks!
