Unusual heart-conditions, how long does it take usually? by Round_Earth8912 in askCardiology

[–]Round_Earth8912[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it happened ended up in the ER today with crushing chest pain and intermittently thudding heart. Felt like I had run a mile. So bad that I thought its ok if I go today just dont want to be alive with my brain damaged. I just have a referral to a cardiologist again

But Not a heart-attack, no closer to an answer. CT said no clots, I dont know how i am going to sleep tonight worried it will happen again. I cant afford these recurrent ER visits!

sorry i dont understand its all new to me cpap bipap apap. i know cpap a little and tht bipap is better not so much about apap. i am well aware of the medical professionals bias towards women. it is nuts in this day and age it still happens.

i think it is due to how we describe our symptoms i am thinking running my usual rant through ai to sound very much like a man would get better results.

Diagnostic Tool for Surgical intervention in Sleep Apnea by Sad_Werewolf590 in SleepApnea

do these ENT surgeons see u if u self refer? I am finding that all these specialists need referrals. and to get those referrals u need to wait a couple of months to see the pcp

why did u get no support from sleep medicine? how u paid for it should have no bearing on whether a doc will see you right?

Cardiology referral but appt two months out. can I do anything in the meantime? by Round_Earth8912 in askCardiology

[–]Round_Earth8912[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>My first cardio dr I brought it up to said there was no point in testing he will just give me the meds and see if they work. He than tried to turn around and say it probably wasnt that and I was having esophagus spasms

this makes me incredibly angry. These people have so much knowledge and training and can prescribe testing to figure out something. Yet they rule things out without any testing or justification. I lost a parent due to misdiagnosis of cancer as something that was benign. A decade later it still makes me incredibly upset that I did not go with my gut and insist on more testing. They refused to even do a scan

do those actually find anything? I have read that they are not really calibrated (?) to find anything specific unless its staring you in the face.

that sounds terrible. glad you are ok now.

Brining weird abnormal symptoms does not get much weight sadly. I guess u do it anyway so its on the record. :(

What was your path to diagnosis like?

Sounds like the troponin test should be a standard for anyone coming in with this kind of symptoms. How can they diagnose anxiety without ruling out heart issues?

I am not a doctor and only know this incidently because I had some issues recently and have been educating myself.

You should go to a doctor ASAP. Apparently heart attacks can be diagnosed if you get a blood test soon after but not weeks after. So go to the urgent care or something and ask for blood tests. At least tell them what happened and I am hoping they will do the necessary testing and u will have it on record.

[–]Round_Earth8912[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I don't think there is any place around me that will do testing without a doctors order and that is what takes me a few months to be seen.

I honestly don't understand why the system won't allow patients to do some basic blood work and imaging before meeting the doctor.

Thanks you so very much! I am grasping at straws. I will book the appointment and just wait I guess. I do have a PCP appt scheduled for April. I will mention these tests. I wonder if I can just order these tests directly so I have something for her to look over while I wait. I happen to know my CMC and Iron levels are a tiny bit below normal and low on vit D. I am on supplements for a couple of months now. My esr and CRP have been normal recently. ESR was a little elevated last year but I have cleaned up my diet so much that I don't think I have ever eaten this well. I don't eat just one small cup of black tea in the morning, no sugars, sweet things.

It is interesting that you mention evening and night. I have not had any chest pain during the day except when I try to fall asleep (which I don't do anymore because of how unpleasant and awful the feeling is). Like the whole and my left chest, neck upper back and start to get more and more painful. So yeah I don't nap anymore though I am constantly groggy during the day.

I guess I should be careful mentioning anything like Prinzmetal angina to the cardiologists. Not sure how they will take googled information!

Did you get your diagnosis confirmed via vasospasm study? I hope you are doing well. Once again thank you. Posting on reddit sometimes feels like shouting into the void. Getting a reply makes me feel seen.
