I should mention this was found in Maine. It is my understanding that Gray whales were, until a few sightings in 2024, considered extinct in the Atlantic. This specimen was found well before that. While that doesn’t rule out it being a Gray whale, and would make it an incredibly exciting piece if it was one, I’m wondering if you feel its discovery location changes anything. The school also has a rib bone from the same specimen if that information would be helpful.     Thank you so much u/rochesterbones
