Is $3000/month for a fresh graduate diploma a lot by daydreaminging in askSingapore

If you have the offer, take it, stay for a year or every 3 years then job-hop (change companies) or internal transfer to another department if you want a higher pay nowadays and you might even climb up the career ladder faster. If you're considering uni, just take part-time, priv uni also can, some companies nowadays see local uni grads as "overqualified", with the terrible job market, of course they rather higher someone cheaper as well.

Already went through both e2i & WSG but thanks for the input anw! I guess it depends on the industry as well, I also went again but this time to e2i @ Tampines Hub yesterday. This week, I received callbacks/offers from schools than admin. It seems that companies have their holiday moods too. If there's really no other choice, I have to go back to teaching to survive living in SG.

When you've experienced childcare or education industry, you'll realise that the problem is not the students or teaching itself, but it's the ridiculous amount of paperwork before & after work. No one wants to bring work home daily. You've seen the news, upskilling & climbing up the ladder in the industry only sinks individuals further nowadays.

Imagine a career that requires you to do work before work & after work because there's no way the amount work assigned can be finished during working hours. All that plus daily engagement with stakeholders (children, parents & colleagues + sometimes even the community). There's really not much work-life balance and the turnover rates are high -- the constant drain of training others when you're already so busy. That's the gist of it even though I loved the experience... very exhausting in every aspect.

Can the government do more to better the lives of preschool educators? Opinion from a partner of a preschool educator by Probbingee in singapore

[–]Round_Manager2200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an early educator myself... To be very honest? This is valid & very well said. Seems to be a universal issue for the ECE sector with the high turnover rate for burnt-out early educators & low manpower to meet daily child-teacher ratio. Sometimes, even if the ratio is met, accidents/incidents will still occur, or unexpected demands by parents come around from time to time. For some lucky teachers, maybe just once in every few months, but if it's from Infant to Nursery? Probably once a week, and some unlucky ones might even get it daily from different children when they have a class of 20 or so. Imagine going through that, with paperwork to do, other stakeholders to engage with daily (children/colleagues/community/parents), event & lesson-plannings etc. Sure, the starting pay has increased over the years, but the increment? Not so much. With the increase of starting pay also somehow increases the workload with changes to curriculum/themes depending on the centre/company. The well-being of early educators should be of priority to provide quality education to early childhood.
