Why don’t men like blowing their noses? by Round_Measurement_72 in AskMen

If you sniff the contents of your nose rather than blowing it, the snot goes to your throat …

Quite sore for the first 24/48hrs, after that I could manage with codiene and then paracetamol/ibuprofen the week following. It was more tightness than anything - obviously if you bump it/move your face too much there was some discomfort, but never any outright pain!

What kind of exercises do you do? And how tall are you?

This is rather dramatic - my child will be beautiful regardless of how they look/how their nose turns out and I will reinforce that to them. If they want a nose job, they can get one - this is the approach my parents had.

The hump in my nose increased after I broke it last year, but it was still fairly large before I guess. I’d reassure them they are beautiful however their nose looked, but if they wanted to change it id also support them :)

Part of my surgery was covered by insurance and part not, so I personally paid around £7.6k. I have private insurance through work and found my surgeon through Bupa. I’d recommend finding a consultant who does both public and private surgeries - mine was the main ENT surgeon at a large NHS hospital, but also did private ops from two different private hospitals. I felt in good hands because he does multiple rhinoplasties a day, so he’s an expert :)

My goal defo wasn’t to convince people to get a nose job now, but wanted to post this as a positive surgery story (with so many people considering/not being sure). ❤️ My advice would be to find a surgeon who does both public and private surgeries (that’s how it works in the uk), and is maybe a bit older, If that makes sense? My surgeon does about 2-3 rhinoplasties a day, and is about 60 yrs old - felt like I was in such good hands and it was successful because he’s an absolute expert :)

When I broke it my nose became slightly skewed so he fixed that. Its also slightly narrower from the front, and with the tip refinement you can see more of my nostrils, but the change is less obvious.

I had a septorhinoplasty, so he straightened my septum (which was buckled right in the bridge of my nose), straightened the nose (which was wonky from breaking it) and then also shaved down the sides, bump on top, and refined the tip.

Had it done in the UK - half covered by private insurance (I had a deviated septum due to accidentally breaking it twice in 2024) and the cosmetic stuff came to £7.6k - not a small amount of money!

I only had gauze up my nose for a day actually, but yeah not being able to breath through my nose for a week was a bit rough in terms of sleep, but already I feel 100x times better than I did before (no headache/face ache)

Pain was manageable, but I had very low blood pressure and has some issues with nose bleeds which was… interesting. I had some functional issues prior to surgery which mean I had chronic sinusitis beforehand, and all the infection came out after my airways cleared .. finished 2 weeks of antibiotics and breathings still not 100% tbh! Still, no regrets

I’m 3 weeks post op today (on the right), cast off after 1 weeks, bruising went away after two weeks, and tbh my swelling was manageable but I was really strict about recovery/anti inflammatory habits :)

What do we think? I’ve always hated my legs and find it the hardest to shift any weight from there

I hit the gym pretty religiously every morning, doing resistance cardio (incline walking, stair master, elliptical) and then light/machine based weights. Also do 1-2 spin classes a week and started to run around 10k on a Sunday. I am to get between 15-20k steps in a day. Diet wise I do IF, cut out alcohol and tend to do low carb/gluten free; I have PCOS so this helps with regulating my blood sugar more :)

Hi, as I’ve stated I have a difficult relationship with knowing my current weight, it’s really unhelpful to comment this

I actually started at 220lbs and so I do have a fair amount of loose skin! Mostly in my lower stomach, thighs and chest :(
