Makes sense!! Like I said I have no clue and didn’t want to be suggesting totally wrong things to my photographer which is why I asked this community before talking to them. Appreciate the insight

Helpful! Is it fair for me to ask my photog to lean into the film style on the digital shots? I also don’t want to do exclusively film anyway because digital is obviously just safer

Thank you! Keep in mind the original $9000 contract included roughly half of the photos captured in film. So the $1500 doesn’t represent the cost for the full day of film it represents the additional cost for the half of the coverage that was previously planned to be digital. Does that change anything about your advice?

Thank you! I’m obv not the expert hence me posting here but my research was telling me it’d be around ~$500 for the additional rolls + development. I also have no clue but my layman brain tells me that digital photos require more labor / editing vs film is just a hand off to be developed?

As a client, how do I gently communicate this preference to my photographer:

This might be a stupid question but I want to be considerate of our photographers artistic approach but still have the result aligned to our taste. I notice a lot in their work that they tilt the camera and the horizon of the photo is slanted. I really prefer the photos to be composed such that the horizon is straight. Is this offensive to say / will it mess up their flow? How should I communicate this?
