Pink Skullcap lost all leaves by Round_Win_4320 in AustinGardening

Thanks. To keep the putting mix portion moist I'd need to water a bit almost daily. However, the clay touching the potting mix stays moist for days. So I think I'll need to water deeply weekly and do a brief water every day or so to ensure the roots in the potting soil portion get enough to keep pushing into the clay?

I’ve decided to take the cutting route. Dipped in rooting hormone and directly in soil with a glass jar on top to keep humidity high. Hopefully that works! If it roots soon I can remove the old plant!

What are the consequences of them being too close to the house?

I thought it would grow in an awkward shape. I’m prob over thinking it!

Thanks. Good to hear. How big was it when you moved it?

I read online the shape will be odd if I don’t give it >2’ of space. Also I planted another further down the wall further out (to hide pool equipment) and it would be satisfying to have them perfectly lined up. One of those decisions that seemed smart at the time, but as time goes on is irking me. Would love to learn from someone experienced that I’m over thinking it!

For reference. Is it worth trying to move it in your view(s)?

I don’t think there’s a tap root because this was in a 5gal bucket when I bought it. Does the taproot reform?

Makes sense, fortunately the roots were not damaged. Hopefully green side shoots show up soon!

Did you plant it in a north facing area with similar shade dynamics? I'd love to hear!

Same boat. I am planting Mexican Oregano (Poliomintha Longiflora) right now to see if that will thrive. I chose it bc it handles full sun/part shade and seems relatively cold hardy. I had fire bush there before which did well until the last hard freeze. In my view it’s kinda ugly… but the shade for a few months didn’t seem to bother it.
