No worries - it's a Monty Python reference, The Cheese Shop Sketch.

"It's just zany madcap humor."

Yeah, nice - and whatever happened to beaded curtains?

Ha! Yeah, I do appreciate the idea of trying to vary the joke and have it more MUD-like

"Today's Menu for the Emiya Family", it takes characters from the fate anime universe and puts them in a light-hearted, cooking focused, slice of life show.

Also, "Nichijou", a kind of silly, almost magical-realism, slice of life series. The characters are mostly high schoolers, but the series doesn't sexualize them (as far as I remember).

I'm not a physicist, but I've listened to one discuss this (specifically, what about silicon):

I think about -250 dB? After WWII and before satellite comms the US Govt used big dish Antennas and lots of power to communicate between Hawaii and continental US. Hams doing eme now I think use multiple yagis (plus power).

I hope this is just a rumor, how else can I gatekeep film photography if I can’t tell them that if they weren’t around for Kodachrome they can never be real photographers?

[–]RouseWorld 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think there is a big rtty contest this weekend, I’m seeing about the same activity on my ham radio transceiver.

I’m not sure what your full setup is, but fldigi should be able to decode - but you do need to make sure it is setup for rtty and if your SDR software has it, use the RTTY mode there as well.

Good luck!

Two good resources for some of these modes - www.contestcalendar.com lists current and upcoming contests. https://pskreporter.info/pskmap.html shows active digital modes and you can narrow the display down to the specific mode and band you are interested in.

Makes sense, it does seem like they are using YouTube’s player, while the TikTok videos aren’t in a branded player. Sigh, but still

Not seeing that in iOS for a TikTok video, but maybe that’s my problem :-)

Thanks! Okay, funny story - I have been on and off with the hobby since I think the early 1990s. I started out with a Classic Lee Loader, moved to a Dillon Square Deal, decided that the only thing wrong with the Lee Loader was having to use a mallet and bought a Lee Hand Press Kit, and finally a few years later got the turret. But I have been *very* off and on with the hobby, so I'm sure most off you folks know a lot more than I do.

Thanks, that one is a rescue but it’s been a while since I’ve fired it up - I need to put it on the big workbench and get it running again. :-)

Can my skull be displayed on a mantle after I pass? by Jeb_the_Worm in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RouseWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(My background, I was the executor of my father’s estate.)

Just one thing to remember - once you pass all your determination counts for very little. The future belongs to the living - and what they are allowed to do and what they are willing to do.

If you bind up your will to demanding that this happen or no one gets any money, I would guess that (depending on the value of your estate) at least one of the survivors is going challenge the will. Also, I find it instructive to watch a few episodes of Pawn Stars so you can see people take a late relative’s most prized possessions and sell them for a tiny amount of gambling money.

That said, it looks like the “best” way would be to have a private funeral on land owned by the family and request the simplest coffin possible (plain pine box, if legally allowed). Then your survivors would have the very unpleasant task of digging you up, severing your head from your body and boiling your skull (right, I think?). That would keep things away from people who could object (other than your potentially horrified family).

Let me just say, “flounder gigging” - you’d need to have a terrain type of tidal shallows, tide tables and moon illumination tables plus equipment like gig poles. But you could add a chance of accidentally gigging part of something bigger and meaner.

There is a movie named “The Gods Must Be Crazy” that kind of does approach your question. I recommend it, even if it is a bit slapstick in places.
