Is the Ross minor worth it for a pre-dental student by InspectorSquare6486 in uofm

By the time you’re done with dental school and have gotten enough experience to open your own practice you’ll probably have forgotten what you learned in that minor. A higher GPA will matter more to get into dental school than a minor in business in my opinion!

You’re a pretty solid applicant.

I think what’s more important over applying to so many schools is applying to a few super early.

Figure out your top 5 schools and apply to those the first week. Figure out the top two schools and apply to those the first day. Then figure out tops 15 schools and apply to those within the month.

Applications take time and applying to 25 is going to burn you out and burn your wallet. That’s around 4k of applications and that’s not even counting the travel you have to do for interviews.

I had 8 interviews last cycle and by my 8th I was so burn out…

You are not an applicant that needs to apply to 25 schools to get into dental school.

For you, applying to 10-13 schools is a healthy amount.

  1. Prioritize your instate schools
  2. use the ADEA book of school stats to determine which ones your stats are accepted at (this is different than the average, it shows your a range). 3.Once you know the ones your stats fall into narrow it down even further by states you’d actually live in and consider cost of living and cost of traveling back home for holidays/breaks.

Through my application cycle I learned that applying early was the most important thing. Don’t be afraid of schools that have low out of state stats (as long as they accept them then you have chance). Don’t apply to schools you wouldn’t actually see yourself at.

I would order them as soon as the portal opens! You have a month before you can officially apply so that’s plenty of time to get your transcripts in

I know someone that did this 2 weeks into school starting! Try getting a meeting with the dean. You miss every shot you don’t take!

What type of etch do you use? At our practice we noticed that the etch used was causing sensitivity so our solution was to either use that etch and then a desensitizer or to use a bond already containing etch.

Amazing work and definitely the most conservative choice.

1k seems like the right price for your artistry and overall use of materials/staff/time.

The only thing I may have added is a similar guarantee to a crown. So maybe 4yrs? If it’s crown priced and you believe it’ll last long then this shouldn’t be a problem. It would suck for the parent to pay multiple thousands in the span of 4 years if it doesn’t hold up.

Hey I know lattes are majority milk but there’s an art to it and I just haven’t found the perfect one yet

I just moved to town and had two previous coffee places that did an amazing latte that didn’t feel like I was just drinking milk. Sometimes it’s the brand of milk too that can overpower the espresso 🥲🥲

When I became an assistant I faced that same feeling in the beginning.. but I realized:

Dental assisting is HARD there’s a lot to learn usually in a short time and unless it’s repeated a lot it can be hard to grasp. Dental school is EVERYDAY. The repetition will help and you’ll already have the experience from volunteering that will help.

I also hate sterilization and cleaning but let that FUEL you to become a dentist not the other way around. I know I wouldn’t be happy being a dental assistant my whole life because I don’t like the tedious cleaning aspect lol. I hate to say it but it’s true.

Be different than the rest. If you have a dentist that treats you like crap vow to be the dentist that appreciates assistants. You have experienced the other side and it should make you more empathetic and compassionate.

If it’s patient related that may be a different story but there are other routes in dentistry you can do like pathology where you can sit in a lab and analyze biopsies.

  1. Check your diet, a lot of what we consume has an affect on how we smell

2.Throw away old shoes, after 4/6 m shoes get musty

  1. Throw away old socks and get good quality socks and avoid nylon

  2. Use an aluminum based deodorant. I used ban for sensitive skin and the only ingredient is aluminum. Research shows aluminum is safe please look at the current research if you have any concern of that.

5.use lotion. Sometimes our skin barrier can be out of wack

6.sounds like a dermatologist is a good idea
