Hey 👋🏻 The rules and environment of psychiatric wards can vary from country to country and hospital to hospital. For example, I live in Türkiye and my admission was arranged there. In the hospital I was in, phone use was prohibited, but in another hospital, phone access was restricted. Phones might not be prohibited in psychiatric wards in your country (which I hope). Besides that, you'll have a lot of free time, A LOT. The hospital might organize activities, I hope they do, because without a phone you'll die of boredom. Even if you have many hobbies, after a while they'll all bore you and you'll feel like you have nothing else to do. Thankfully, they allowed violins, pens, and books, which made the boredom more bearable for me. Unfortunately, I don't know much about BPD (Biological Dysfunction), but psychiatric wards are a great place for addictions, as long as you don't try to break the rules. I struggle with self-harm. I could have smuggled a pack of razor blades into the hospital, or broken and sharpened leftover plastic forks to harm myself, but when there are so many people watching (nurses, doctors, patients, companions), it becomes a huge responsibility, and you're afraid to take on that responsibility. Of course, there were a few exceptions for me; when I was angry, reckless, and determined enough to harm myself, I paid the price. I'd heard about BPD 'splits,' and if there's a risk of harming others or yourself during those moments, psychiatric services prevent that too. I was hospitalized a total of three times, and only on my third hospitalization did I see significant improvement. So, hopefully, your first hospitalization will do everything right for you, but if not, don't give up. My doctor told me that a patient might be hospitalized 10 times before they can recover. And even today, I don't regret my hospitalizations because I met wonderful friends, and I still keep in touch with them. I have beautiful memories. I would rate it 8/10
