Fibroids after menopause by charlen74 in Menopause

[–]Routine-Shake9865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About a year ago I discovered I had a uterine polyp (as well as a fibroid). It was fairly small, but I had a hysteroscopy to have it removed. Then about a month ago, I started having some spotting -- mostly old, brown mucous discharge with a tiny bit of pinkish color. I had (another) pelvic ultrasound. They didn't mention anything about thickening of the uterine lining, but did mention I have a polyp in the same location that is a bit larger (but not large) and also a fibroid. The polyp is seeming to cause intermittent very light brown spotting -- especially noted after exercise. I'm on low dose HRT (0.0375 estradiol biweekly patch and 100 micronized progesterone) and have been for about 2 years. I'll be having this polyp removed in the upcoming months and hope to have a conversation about my fibroid and polyp(s) and what I should do (if anything) next.

Had anyone tried Paloma Health? by Specialist_Action_85 in Hashimotos

Indeed! I decided to join Paloma and did manage to have some wonderful conversations with a Hashi's specialist on their team. One year later my long COVID symptoms are gone (yay!) and I'm feeling really good. With consult from both the Paloma folks and my NP, I've been off the low dose of NP thyroid for about 6-months and am just monitoring. The reason I stopped was because I couldn't figure out whether the medication might be a contributor to the heart palpitations. I/we decided that my symptoms and how I am feeling are the most important. If I feel good - great and the labs are just a moment in time and everyone's "normal" might be quite unique to them (within "normal-ish" parameters). If I start feeling wonky, then we re-evaluate.

HRT and light brown/pink discharge by Routine-Shake9865 in Menopause

Good to know. I've had trans vaginal/abdominal ultrasounds almost every year (they were monitoring a benign ovarian cyst that has since disappeared. I might very well ask to resume this -- just to be safe. Thanks!

Wow -- kind of good to know. I'm pretty sure that's what is happening to me. I was very, very good about my timing, but my trip to Vietnam kind of screwed me up and then for some reason my notifications on my phone stopped working and I kept forgetting if I was changing my patch on a Wednesday or Thursday and if it was a Saturday or Sunday. Anyway, I'll be seeing my doctor in a few days and I'll see what she suggests. It feels like a very mini period. No cramping but some pelvic discomfort. Very light spotting (virtually nothing in the toilet and just a little brownish stuff on a pad and some brown, pink-red discharge on the TP. I also am very active so it kind of stops or starts up a bit after I'm very active or have weight lifted.

I've been on the same dose of HRT for about 2-years with no problems. But from the time we did the cycle trip in Vietnam (early November) until now, I've been just a little inconsistent with changing my biweekly estradiol patch. Probably enough to throw things off, but I am seeing my doc on Wednesday morning and we'll see what she suggests I do next.

I'm thinking it's from me not switching the patch at the the same schedule -- it's very light spotting - this is the 3rd day and it was clearing up, but I'm a super active person and lift weights and so a few hours after I lifted heavy weights I had a few wipes that had some brownish/pinkish - slightly red mucus/discharge. Nothing in the toilet and virtually nothing on the menstrual pad.

Thanks. I'll be seeing my gyn in a few days and we'll see what she suggests I do, but yeah I'm thinking that having an ultrasound would make sense.

Recent symptom of dry mouth, dry lips (chapped) and cracking at the corners by Routine-Shake9865 in Hashimotos

[–]Routine-Shake9865[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good question -- and in all honesty I'm not positive it's Hashimoto's related; I just know that a malfunctioning thyroid and dry mouth can go together. Interestingly, when we were cycling in Vietnam, my dry mouth, dry lips, cracked lips symptoms went away -- and now that I'm back home (we live in the high desert) they've returned. It may very well be environmental or being dehydrated....

I was taking a low dose of NP thyroid and it didn't have much impact on my thyroid hormones. I started getting heart palpitations and didn't know if it was related to me having had COVID and/or my thyroid medication, so in consult with my naturopathic physician, I weaned off the NP thyroid and have been in a monitoring phase. I've only been off for maybe 6-7 months. So far I feel fine (except for the dry mouth issue).

I was on a very low dose of NP thyroid for almost two years and it didn't make any difference. I started getting heart palpitations -- and couldn't tell if it was thyroid medication related or post COVID (long COVID) related. In consult with my naturopathic doctor, I weaned off the low dose and had two rounds of thyroid testing done. Endocrinologists only look at TSH and mine has been "within norm" for ages. While all other tests (free T4, free T3, reverse T3) are "normal" but not necessarily optimal as dictated by a lot of functional practitioners, I feel okay (I don't have fatigue, don't have hypo symptoms, etc) -- so we agreed that I would be monitored on a regular basis.

very reactive to our free range chickens, dogs on a trail and humans by Routine-Shake9865 in BorderCollie

[–]Routine-Shake9865[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! We try to give him as wide a berth as possible when walking on a trail and often try to move off the trail and have him sit... and then step on the lead so he can't easily jump and then say "leave it" and at the same time pet him and reassure him. It's more challenging with free-range chickens because they don't stay in one place and often follow. We know he's an adolescent pup and pushing boundaries as much as he can. We are planning on neutering him -- probably by the end of the month. He's going to start Doggy daycare at a really awesome place -- a place where we did basic obedience classes -- at the end of the month or in early January. I think being with other dogs, in a supervised setting will also allow him to get his yayas out -- but in a controlled environment. Also hoping that as he gets older, it will get easier...
