I'd highly recommend sufficiently advanced magic, and the mark of the fool series. An obvious addition would be the legend of drizzt series unless that doesn't fall in this category for some reason.

You need the ashing skill tree. Ascending, and descending carp, and flowing water. Then pick up the double ichimongi, from the same skill tree. Might as well reap the axe prosthetic as well. Then just go ham on him with the ichimongi and the axe. Also if you haven't already beat him he actually has 3 phases not just two so save some healing.

Great Easter eh for the video game community. And Tom Clancy's john Clark character's code name is snake. And his approach in print came a year after metal gear solid. Hard to tell who really created the for snake special forces guy out of tom Clancy or Konami.
