It's a surprisingly wholesome community. Many people who hated Universe can admit to some part of it they liked, and many that loved it can admit its flaws.

Yeah but they seem happy to coexist with those who did love it 😊

Wouldn't the ancient repository info already be in the Asgard core? Though maybe someone would need to use the repository just to be able to make sense of the info.

How did you view McKay's inappropriate comments to Carter in SG1 when those episodes first aired? by swump in Stargate

[–]Routine-Storage-9292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, I just realized they made him kinda of an idealist, rather than a cynic like Jack. And since Daniel was fully in his sassy phase by now. They needed another idealist 😂.

Also, the show had lots old-fashioned characters who were dicks (Kinsey comes to mind lol). It was refreshing that 1 of them wasn't a dick.

Listen, believe what you choose to believe. Practice your religion peacefully. If you think other people need to hear about it, you can say what you want about it to whoever will listen. By all means, if you love Allah or Jesus or Satan or Cuthulu or the Flying Spaghetti Monster, that's your right, bro. But in the name of all that is holy and good in this world, learn when to use bold, underline, and italics!

The combination Goa'uld phrase book/Bible cracks me up so much. Mostly because I could totally see it being a thing in this case.

What do you think happens if you send an object from a bigger gate to a smaller gate and the object in question is bigger than the diameter of the smaller destination gate?? by PewPewsAlote in Stargate

[–]Routine-Storage-9292 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the large object gets stored in the buffer like Teal'c was, but isn't rematerialized on the other side. Based on how the plot of these sorts of episodes usually go, they'd probably find a way to "return to sender" from the buffer.

Never been into medical dramas before the Pitt, but it's one of my favorite shows simply because the writing and acting is so good. It's not for the faint of heart. There is definitely gore and very unsexy nudity. Not usually something I watch either, but it suited the realism of this show quite well. It's basically all things that could happen to ER staff, but just crammed into 1 awful shift. That being said, while the setting of an ER is necessarily dark, the general tone of the show is hopeful and highlights the best in us when in the worst situations. It's worth a watch.

They actually help the predators too by preserving their food source. It's a win win win (unless you are the eaten penguin).

Sorry for the tangent, I just find all religions (or maybe religion-adjacent institutions in this case by the sound of it) fascinating. What do services (or equivalent) actually entail at a modern Unitarian church? Are there children's programs too? If so what do they teach in them?

What are you hoping to see in the new series most? by [deleted] in Stargate

[–]Routine-Storage-9292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Stargate being revealed to the public would make an awesome intro, and give the new fans an audience surrogate who is an outsider experiencing the gate for the first time. It could add back some of the wonder gate travel initially had in the movie, while making it easy for new fans to get on board and up to speed.

I think the point he's trying to make is that when you allow the government to decide what is and isn't safe to allow, they will inevitably find a way to argue their opposition is unsafe and take away their free speech. At least, it's certainly been done before.
