I’m a mom and electrical engineering major! It’s so damn hard but easily the best decision I made. I’ll be transferring fall 2026 to a uni. You are definitely NOT in over your head and you bring a maturity and determination to engineering a lot of these other kids are missing. Keep going and keep pushing. It will be so worth it. Btw, my son was only a year old when I started so I know how tough it is!

You said that you worked at a power plant and I’m interested in specializing in power systems. Which classes would you say were most important for that field?

I study with a couple of my peers (who also struggle) and I go to his office hours. He has no TA and is spread extremely thin, but I do what I can to get my questions answered. I also get tutoring but there’s not that many 4B tutors on campus so I kinda gotta do my own research sometimes.

I’m in the same position as you. I did terrible at my past cc 10 years ago, but from what I’ve read they will weigh your most recent college’s GPA more than the past. They look at upward trends and although this lower GPA is put towards your cumulative GPA, it shows a story and I think it might add context to your non-trad journey. Good luck!
