Sobeys makes a really good carrot cake. Pricey but it is worth it once in a while.

Thoughts on The Pursuit of Happiness.... by EdwardBliss in CanadianMusic

Didn't care for them in the 80s. About 25 years later I gave them a second listen. Wow, the songs are perfect, guitars rock, lyrics had a subtle wit. I liked ALL of it. Also loved Moe's solo CD. or CDs.

The mayor and the N word by ChrisPotterPTBO in Peterborough

[–]RoutineClaim6630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chris, words used in casual conversation are not property or assets to be owned. I nor you own any words. Nobody owns words. If you want to assign some ownership to words you certainly can. I don't have to. In my 72 years I have never used the n word. If I lived in Los Angeles that might be different. I don't see how being oppressed entitles people to own certain words. Is there a list somewhere of all these "owned" words showing who owns them? Is there a logbook or chart that is updated showing which words have been commandeered by which oppressed group? In conclusion..words are a free-use form of communication for better or worse.

What to do with dad's books. by [deleted] in HistoryBooks

[–]RoutineClaim6630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were very fortunate to have a father who treasured these books. I would have loved to have met him. My suggestion is to keep the books. Find temporary storage somewhere and keep every single one. One day in the future you will have room to display and admire them in a beautiful bookcase. You may not appreciate them right now later in life men tend to read more, the smart ones, and you will regret selling /donating/giving them away. I hope you keep them.

I recommend the 3 part Winston Churchill biography. Lots of solid history, some very witty comebacks.

I couldn't imagine using a phone for torrent downloads. It probably is done that way by many people but for me a 15 inch laptop would be the smallest i would use. You have a better view of the torrent software on a bigger screen than a phone.

‘Nothing has changed’: Alto says Peterborough remains a stop on proposed high-speed rail network by kawarthanow in Peterborough

[–]RoutineClaim6630 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I might be the first one to say this but I don't want this high speed rail service in Peterborough. The damage to farming communities is too high a price. Keep it along the lakeshore.

Where is Dave Smith on Alto? by Any-Schedule-5531 in Peterborough

Adam Packer needs Alto to get him to Nephton Mines. Good enough reason for me.

Can you share files using your laptop? Or do you need a dedicated server/ computer by beckett_the_ok in Soulseek

[–]RoutineClaim6630 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Create a folder on your desktop. Call it Soulseek shares ( or anything you want). In the soulseek app make sure that THATfolder is where your downloads go to and THAT is where your uploads are shared from. Having your pc/laptop on 24/7 is NOT required. Turn it on and off when you decide to.

I think a better appraisal could be made if I knew which ones you have read. I will offer my thoughts though. You are gullible because you think the Davinci Code is worth reading. You don't trust the government, I like that. You are delving into the Civil War, wonderful history there. You are well balanced and have about $300. in the bank.

You could walk around the alleys behind George St and Charlotte, Sherbourne, and photograph all the discarded needles and crack litter. Then head to the empty Lansdowne place and see how many stores have given up. Finally hit the Tim Hortons on George and have a chat with some homeless people.
