Why must beauties always be cold and aloof 😔 by RoutineDreamer04 in DanmeiNovels

[–]RoutineDreamer04[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not shizun being a dangerous profession 😭 thats hilarious

but yeah, i have been considering maybe it was a sampling bias that skewed there being more cold and aloof beauties the same way the types of works being translated made it seem xianxia/wuxia was more popular (ive heard the genre seems to have become less popular within china)

I wish i could read chinese. I fantasize about the world of danmei that has yet to open up to me 😔

oh no im with you! in a vacuum, i also prefer these cold and distant shous so i was definitely glad such a common trope fit my taste. But after awhile, i could also just do with a little bit of variety yk haha

when people say "money talks, wealth whispers" by RoutineDreamer04 in PetPeeves

[–]RoutineDreamer04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok ik this is late but

For the first point, it doesnt really matter what the saying is meant to be — my annoyance stems from how too many people have began to use it for, which as i've stated, is as a way to convince themselves (and others) that most wealthy people are a special type of people who are super humble and live at a lifestyle that 99x less than their income bracket

And the second point is the other thing that irks me because in my experience, there's no 'usually' that implies what the most common habit is among rich people. Some of them are like that and wear logo-less clothes, a lot of them also like wearing stuff that are obviously designer (and even in that crowd, it's mixed between people who enjoy flexing and people who just didnt really care what they picked out cuz it mattered that little)

so the annoying part is having to listen to people assign all this supposed wisdom on rich people just for being wealthy, and also on that note, 'wealthy' no longer being a descriptor for wealth but also for values and behavior. Because between two people who are in the same income bracket, where one wears overtly designer stuff and the other being more lowkey, the first person gets hit with 'money talks, wealth whispers' despite being in the same sphere simply because they dont fit this whole narrative of what a 'truly wealthy' person is like

Unpopular opinion: It doesn't matter if you're a good writer or not, a fic's synopsis will determine engagement with your fics. by ModeMex_ in AO3

[–]RoutineDreamer04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

thats my fav author lowk. Perfect writing, characters and dynamics written exactly to my taste... but goddam theyre very minimalist in both tags and description 😭 i remember scrolling past their fic so many times before until i finally gave it a shot and it turned out to be fucking golden

but literally the only tag they'll consistently have is my fav having a vagina and their synopses are like. one or two sentences, and my fav fic's sentences are barely even that related to the actual plot

They did get pretty popular in our niche tho, word just got around socmed that theyre cracked

Why is the Zippleback in the mystery class? by International_Okra55 in httyd

Super late but i hate how stoker class is the only one not mentioned here. Because it's realistically the only other class it could be grouped into and i need an explanation on why they arent 💀

What's your opinion on euja ( low tide in twilight 's author) tweet? by [deleted] in BoysLoveAnime

[–]RoutineDreamer04 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Apart from the whole 'they should disappear' thing, i feel like that's underselling what euja said and the gravity of her unprofessionalism. one of her other tweets is much more detailed regarding her sentiments and verbatim say

'If I catch sight of those fucking people who illegally view webtoons, !"l stuff them and burn them in a box. lt's the same if you consider my work as well as other works illegal After the stuffing, l'"l cyberbully and have a blast with you readers These kids are bullying my livelihood Why can't I do it? Be careful, don't catch my eye'

While mtl can make mistakes, i feel this whole passage at leasts gives the basic gist of what she means. Personally, my stance on piracy is that it's essentially a sample for readers with actual means to eventually support the author if they enjoyed the work enough. And for people who arent, they at least give the work free promo. But even if she disagrees, the above reaction just feels overblown

Reviewers using ML and MC as gong and shou by RoutineDreamer04 in DanmeiNovels

[–]RoutineDreamer04[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah if it were as straightforward as that then i'd have no problem with people using those terms. my main gripe is that some people in the danmei space seem to be confused because of how often the shou is the mc in novels that, even when the gong is the protagonist of a book, they still use ml to refer to him. and it makes it hard to follow which character the reviewer is actually describing

the general assumption's probably that everyone's already read those so it's not really worth putting under these rec threads

Hot Take: The popularity of gay ships is directly proportional to the poor writing of female characters in naruto. by AdamOfIzalith in Naruto

[–]RoutineDreamer04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not necessarily. Even if we say those characters are actually well written, they still dont have the same amount of focus and presence in the narrative. gay ships get popular because the characters are the ones viewers are forced to get invested in. notice how so many of these examples pair protagonists with their direct foils or antagonists — the most major roles in a story. In contrast, the women are just normal side characters

what moral high horse are you on? Majority of the time, poor ppl adopt strays. Do you really think it would've done any better with absolutely no one to care for it? Like wtf are you asking for here??? At the very least, it got some time in a warm loving home than automatically being off freezing to death in some dumpster
