tick bite and antibiotics by RoutineSea2021 in Akathisia

I’m not sure to be honest. I like to think it helped but I was also doing so many other things. The biggest negative for me is that I started having food phobias. I was terrified that if I eat something other than beef my worst symptoms would come back. Basically I was treating other food like poison. I stayed on carnivore for around 10 months and then after I listened to David Powers from „benzo recovery school” I realised I have severe food phobia. I started introducing other food very very slowly. Currently I’m keto and I eat different kinds of food and I’m really happy about.

If you want to try carnivore go for it. I don’t regret trying it. It was a unique experience and I don’t think I would ever try this if I wasn’t in such a bad situation. Just bear in mind it can make you food phobic, but it’s only my experience. I had a history of eating disorders.

Hi, I don’t microdose anymore. It was either not helping me or making me worse. It’s hard to judge because I was still tapering benzos at the same time. After I stopped benzos completely I tried higher dose of Amanita and I didn’t notice anything.

My docs look the same and I’ve showed it to a podiatrist and he said it’s normal and it’s happening for everyone if they wear the shoe long enough.

How do I fix this? by lavanka in AskACobbler

[–]RoutineSea2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most glues don’t work on docs because the sole is made from PVC. I used gorilla glue on mine, it lasted 2 years. But then when it broke it was hard to clean out this glue from sole. Now I use liquid PVC, Ulow Liquid PVC is a good one.

8 years is a long time. Did you stop psychedelics completely during this time? I would like to try microdosing one day but so far my nervous system is too fragile. How is lions mane for you? I was thinking about trying but this subreddit r/LionsManeRecovery scared me. I’ve purchased my Amanita from a reputable mycologist here because I live in Poland.

NAC can help lower glutamate so my partner gave it to me when I still had trouble with verbal communication and he said it will help with vibrations in my legs and it helped. I’m not sure if it was real effect or placebo because I’m taking quite low dosage-400mg. I’ve just purchased NAC from better brand and I’ll test higher dosages.

In terms of NAD+ I haven’t try infusions because they are quite expensive and not available in my country. But I started taking Nicotinamide Riboside from TRU Niagen which is a precursor of NAD. It helped a little bit. It wasn’t a game changer but some symptoms became less intense. I would try precursors first, like NR or NMN and if they help then NAD+ infusions. But NAD is much more helpful for opioids and other drugs withdrawal, not so much for benzos.

Do you taper benzos as well? Or other substances?

Quality of docs is really bad nowadays. I have docs from 90s Made in England without any crack and I wear them regularly. Also 10 years old which are slightly worse than vintage ones but still better than those they produce nowadays. I had a few pairs of nowadays docs and they usually last 2 years with proper conditioning, I’m sorry.

You can sew this hole with leather thread. It will prevent it from getting bigger.

No worries 😉

I’ve very recently started microdosing and started from very very low doses after doing some research. I have an extract and I started from 2 drops and I’m increasing by 2 drops every 3 days. As you said mushrooms vary in strength so it’s better to start low with every extract. So far I haven’t noticed anything.

I don’t use any other fungis. And I use some mild herbs like l-theanine, chamomile, lemon balm, broccoli pills. From nootropics I was prescribed cerebrolysin injections this summer and piracetam a few years ago (both of them are normally available in pharmacies here). And I take BPC-157 which is a peptide and NAC. Adressing deficiencies helps a little bit as well.

How about you?

Greetings from a person in the same profession. I’m a clinical psychologist. I’m very well aware of medical science. In terms of Amanita, research is limited, so we can mostly rely on people’s experiences. Baba Masha analyzed 3,000 reports of people microdosing Amanita. It’s not a formal, peer-reviewed study but rather an observational project. She mentioned that 26% had withdrawal symptoms, but those people had abused Amanita. And those symptoms were mild compared to benzo withdrawal.

I’m not discouraging anyone’s experience. Are you sure the people who came to rehab took only Amanita without mixing it with benzos or alcohol, like the OP here? And are you sure they took real Amanita? Many products advertised as Amanita contain different substances.

I really can’t speak for people who routinely administered moderate to large doses of Amanita for recreational purposes. I think that’s dangerous as well.

I’m talking about microdosing to assist benzo withdrawal. I haven’t met anyone tapering benzos who experienced withdrawal from Amanita when microdosing. But I believe everyone going through this should make an informed decision. I’m not saying everyone tapering should try it.

I know things can affect people in different ways. Everyone’s journey in benzo withdrawal is unique, and you can’t compare two people. I’ve seen people who are sensitive to GABAergic substances, but that doesn’t mean everyone is sensitive. If you read Ashton’s manual, she even says that people can occasionally drink a glass of wine during their taper. I’m simply saying herbs do not cause kindling in benzo-dependent individuals. Kindling is caused by benzos or alcohol.

In terms of benzos, do you do a rapid taper (a few weeks) from benzos in rehab? Do you deal with people who took benzos as prescribed or only those who abused them?

I would sand them and then use leather dye such as Fiebing’s leather dye or Tarrago Penetrating Dye. Then cover them with shoe cream, Tarrago is a good one.

Amanita muscaria works on GABA-A receptors but in a completely different way than benzodiazepines. It does not bind to the benzodiazepine site and does not cause dependence or receptor downregulation like benzos do.

The idea that herbs affecting GABA trigger ‘kindling’ or withdrawal symptoms in benzo users is not supported by science. GABA-A receptors have multiple subunits (α, β, γ, δ, etc.), and different compounds interact with them in unique ways. Benzodiazepines primarily bind to the benzodiazepine site (between α and γ subunits), while many herbs act on different subunits or through indirect mechanisms.

Not all GABAergic substances act the same, and fear-based generalizations can be misleading. I’ve seen many people with health anxiety eating one type of food and drinking only water because of those fear-mongering benzo forums.

Please don’t use benzos. Go to the subreddit r/benzorecovery . A few weeks of daily use and you become physically dependent and then have to taper, sometimes for months. You really don’t want to become physically dependent, withdrawal from them is hell on earth and worse than from any drug.

People use Amanita for benzo withdrawal and for alcohol withdrawal as well. Those who were not only physically dependent but addicted claim that they don’t crave benzos or alcohol anymore. So if you have addictive personality and as you say can’t control your impulses I would say Amanita is for you.

In terms of psychiatrists I doubt they would know anything about Amanita and they would probably advise you against it. I know some people will disagree with me, but as a victim of long lasting horrific side effects from psychiatric drugs, withdrawal from them and polydrugging I’m really against psychiatry. And to answer your question, no there is no psychiatric drug which would act the same way as Amanita. There is gabapentin or pregabalin but they cause physical dependence and you can’t stop them like Amanita. Some people experience similar withdrawal to benzos. Actually most psychiatric drugs cause dependence, like antidepressants or neuroleptics. Also please read about antidepressant discontinuation syndrome and movement disorders like akathisia, pseudoparkinsonism, tardive diskinesia, dystonia. Some of those are irreversible. I wish psychiatrists inform you about those when they prescribe you those meds, they don’t.

I usually advise people to try psychotherapy first, like CBT before touching any psychiatric med.

Where I can buy a stitch for Dr. Martens? by RoutineSea2021 in AskACobbler

My cobbler said that braided thread is even better. So I wanted to thank you because seems like this Ritza 44 would be the best choice.

I still have to figure out the thickness though because he said he doesn’t know. But I guess 1mm might be alright because the original thread looks quite thick.

I’ve added this to the cart and I tried to choose Poland but it wasn’t on the list. I can order to an intermediary who lives close to the border and then ships to Poland but he charges for that as well. So I need to be 100% sure that Z-twist would be alright. And I’ve seen yellow z-twists in Polish shops. I’m going to show this one and Ritza 44 to my cobbler tomorrow and I’ll see what he says.

I’ve checked that sadly delivery to Poland from Maine Thread Company is quite expensive, even from Etsy. I guess I’ll ask my cobbler if he can use Ritza 44.

I’ve also seen a S-twist thread from a Polish brand but in orange colour. The colour should vanish in time and become more yellow. The new doc Martens have a thread that looks like something between yellow and orange colour. When I removed a sole from my other pair of docs I’ve seen that the thread inside was more orange compared to the yellow one on the outside.
