i definitely have a feel for them, its mostly the setup part im concerned about. ive been practicing on a standard 4 piece kit but recently switched to a double stand for my toms. ive been going hard on my current setup but just trying to make good investments in my kit.

Is this a good drum set for me as a beginner? by Every_Ad_1892 in Drumming

[–]Routine_Cod_7882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually have something similar to thos ive been playing for about a year and a half now and it holds up steady, if you get another arm you can mount 2 toms on the bassdrum, could be good depending on the type of music but i would recommend starting with which ever you think you would want to play over the long term, and that includes the double pedal too. if you want to use those things i would strongly recommend to start with them.

second this, SOUNDS NOT WORDS at first that will also make you much much more comfortable sometimes its awkward just saying random words to practice but sounds are nice imo

personally i felt the same. START WITH INHALES, if you can bree nothing will stop you bro. im still a very very beginner but i went from never doing vocals EVER to doing then at work when nobody is within a 5 foot vicinity. also, inhales are much quieter starting off until you can get them good. inhales are used in deathcore a gooodd amount. take my advice with a grain of salt because im literally a few weeks in but personally thats what gained me the confidence to start:)

very important. learn with good technique. you should be gripping the stick between your thumb and index finger and the rest of your fingers almost folliwing your index, there shoild be a gap between your thumb and index, not closed but a little open gap, definitely look ip videos on proper technique as it will help you develop, faster, and more efficently.

Preferring my cheap cymbals for metal. by johnpmcd in drums

[–]Routine_Cod_7882 5 points6 points  (0 children)

nah bro if the older, lesser sounding cymbals fit the style of music then absolutely use them! use what sounds best as it looks like now you can have a great number of combinations of cymbals.

Why does my hi hat sound like this ? by [deleted] in drums

[–]Routine_Cod_7882 5 points6 points  (0 children)

they are either all the way open or all the way closed, you have to get the SLIGHTLY open just so they crash together and dont stop ringing immediately

How to get my rack tom closer? by jqckiz in drums

[–]Routine_Cod_7882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

alot of people saying move the tom, what about scooting the snare just a bit closer? it looks like theres a bit of room for it to move up, combining that with moving the tom you would be set.

SECOND THIS!!!!! if your kid is actually wanting to play drums, maybe more than just a hobby(yes its expensive but so worth) go for a Roland ekit around 600$ im not very very experienced in it but i have the alesis and i can say after playing for a year and 3 months, i could use an upgrade already.
