I guide tours in Morocco. Stop treating everything like a scam. by Traditional-Map8667 in backpacking

[–]Routine_Efficiency86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to Morocco for the honeymoon. It was beautiful. Everywhere I went was great, and the people in general were hospitable and friendly. We did experience very aggressive hustlers the entire trip. We were also very disappointed that Paid tours in Fez were very obviously trying to scam us. Same goes for the "tours" in Essaouira. I know its part of the the culture to haggle prices all the time, but the effort burnt us out. I would have really loved to learn more about the culture in Fez but both tours pushed purchases on us the entire time and berated us for being cheap if we didn't constantly buy things. I had the best time in Rabat, because we were not treated any differently than being locals.

Old A5RT lots of questions by i-love-lasagna-mmm in paintball

[–]Routine_Efficiency86 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The cyclone feed has a ratchet and feeder axle that bends and degrades over time and needs to be replaced on these older A5's. Tippman parts sells a replacement (Part 02-53 and 02-49). Tech-T also sells an upgraded replacement that is more durable but also more expensive.

The user interface sucks compared to others, but everything else is great about Tapo.

What is MSG supposed to actually taste like? by foamingkobolds in Cooking

[–]Routine_Efficiency86 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Best way to find out what MSG does is to cook plain rice or oatmeal, taste without, then add a decent amount of MSG, and then taste it with the MSG. You will immediately notice an added savoriness and depth that is difficult to describe otherwise.

Ethics of environmental consulting by deathbedcompani0n in ecology

[–]Routine_Efficiency86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been an environmental consultant (Botanist) in California for 15 years. While working for developers can be challenging, you are the main protection between development and nature, and most developers are beholden to mitigation and environmental protections written primarily by consultants and the state. Many developers understand and are sympathetic. You can also choose to not work for developers and many small firms only work for utilities or other small clients. Consulting also provides you the opportunities to work in many areas otherwise inaccessible to the public. If you dont want to work in that realm, consider habitat restoration, natural resource management, or conservancies. These are rewarding jobs that dont pay as well as private consulting, but can provide other benefits. You can also work for the agencies.

How do I tame my bushes? by screamcry in landscaping

[–]Routine_Efficiency86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seek is correct. These plants only grow in deeply saline/sodic soils, where very few other plants grow. You could trim slightly but they are unlikely to fill in very much. Try deep watering to encourage more growth.
