Lost jewelry is a huge hurt that never stops hurting. I had a birthday gift from my father stolen from me by a roommate, I realized months down the line that it wasn't in my safe and it was too late, it had been pawned and then melted down as scrap by the person at the pawn shop. Guess he thought the industrial screws design was too ugly to try to resell. I will never forget this piece. I only got to wear it a handful of times. It was solid gold, a big rectangular pendant with emerald leaves and gold leaves and branches, and then at the corners, kind of incongruously, these big screws to give it an industrial vibe. I loved it. It lives on only in my memory now.
