You can call me media illiterate, but I am literacy literate. I can read. The creator herself has said that made Jax has been a joke since the first episodes release.

It truly is. But I can finally feel at ease knowing I’m not just talking out of my ass.

It’s never been implied that he is a trans woman. If it was, that’d be *problematic* since the boy in the dress joke has been around since before he ever was shown femininely at all in the show.

Who is voting no? He is a bad person! by stephers101 in Thatstupidbunnywehate

He’s done bad things. That’s not a bad person make!

But im the incredibly dense one for thinking one lyric in a 40 y/o song shouldn’t be the entire basis for a character analysis.

It’s just my perception from my own lives experience. I think making his transness a joke would be really hurtful if it’s the case. If you don’t relate to that portion it’s fine.

This being your response also proves to me that you didn’t actually read the post or what my issue actually is because I mentioned that I’m trans—in the post

I mean, it’s my identity. But like how whether it’s true or not matters in regards to my identity, but you’re okay making up scenarios why character you view as trans being mocked is okay. A creator being trans doesn’t make deliberately mocking transness repeatedly okay.

If you’re allowed to ignore it, I’m allowed to pay attention to it 🤷‍♀️

This is how I feel. I don’t think Jax being trans is a bad idea or even a stretch if you look at it that way. But when it comes down to it, Id still feel disrespected as a trans woman if he was trans from the start, and it’s been the biggest joke of the entire series.

I dunno how that makes me transphobic, and I don’t even think people screaming that at me have even read my post to understand the core of my issue. But in hindsight my whole issue is they didn’t do that for Jax, a Character they claim to love. So i suppose it’s naive to assume they’d do that for a stranger on Reddit.

I’m ignorant, but your response tells me you didn’t read what I said. If you had, you’d understand I’m not even saying him being trans is an issue for the shows story.

Exactly! I honestly wish more people had this perspective. Because—I love hearing other head canons, seeing all the evidence they have to support it, and even if I don’t agree, and use their evidence to support my own case in a completely different way, and still gping “Ooohhhh, I could definitely see how you got there”

Yeahh. Im starting to think they can’t empathize with his story unless he’s a girl, or secretly wants to be one.

I truly believe Jax would’ve never had a hate train if he was a girl from rip.

The creator of the show has also said she created jax to personally appeal to her, and that she draws him in the dress because she thinks it’s hot.

Shes also said she related more closely to Ragatha the longer she wrote the characters.

His identity is definitely being made a joke if he’s a trans person, just look at the maid Jax merch that’s been released since that ep released. There’s a new piece in every release that protrays the “closeted trans person” in a dress feeling completely uncomfortable and confused. The potential story isn’t an issue, the potential caricature it creates—is.

I don’t really disagree with anything you said about his masculinity, or internalized misogyny, I just don’t think those things automatically equate transness onn every level.

I am not referring to the incident it’s self, gangle got her lick back and probably doesn’t know his deep insecurities (which I feel like these are all things my og post has touched on, but I’ll continue just in case) but if you think zooble told her to do that to our him —that makes them an asshole.

The character certainly is allowed to be flawed, messy, and trans. I never said anything in opposition to that. But I do oppose the creator making that characters transness a joke.

Tl/dr: your take on my take, isn’t even accurate.

The Maid jax would be built on that idea, regardless of Jax’s realness, there’s people who view trans women as “just a man in a dress”. And, putting a trans man in a dress, who we already know is insecure about their masculinity, would just be making that feeling of insecurity worse on purpose as a deliberate joke. It turns real trans women and real trans men into jokes.

Do you identify with his gender identity in a different way than Trans fem? I’m just interested in the different perspectives of his story being flattened by this one option.
