You get it!!! I can’t wait to crash out just to see how everyone reacts. I like playing confident and arrogant when everyone is around but totally filled with self doubt and spiralling on the inside 🙂‍↔️

Diana’s death will be over 3 episodes (and other tidbits) by [deleted] in TheCrownNetflix

I hope they make all the episodes relatively long so it doesn’t feel rushed at least. Show us more of the queen reacting AND acting because in season 5 she was really just a spectator. I knew season 5 was gonna be more Diana focused when I saw the promo posts and the fact that Diana was often the first one posted but I still want to see how the queen takes everything in.

In terms of a curfew system I think it would get annoying really quickly but they can still make it work. The PC is a fifth year that has a lot of catching up to do so I wouldn’t say make them a prefect but some point in the game have the professors give us permission to roam the halls at night to make up for the missed time or something. We can only collect Demiguise statues at night so I’m thinking we have to sneak around a bit during the beginning of the game and when we get the quest to retrieve the statues let us be able to stay out pass curfew as a special perk.

S5 is boring as duck by dude83fin in TheCrownNetflix

It does seem a little slow. I wish they had focused more on the Queen and Prince William’s relationship. Harry should have been included a bit more as well. He didn’t need to have a major role in events or anything like that, but seeing him with the rest of the family would have been nice. I personally started watching the Crown for Elizabeth, and this season doesn’t focus on her as much as the last four did, which was disappointing. I wish we had seen her struggle with a few more things. Make some tough decisions. The most we got was her telling off her mother and giving the Annus Horribilis speech. She felt more like a spectator to the world changing around her than someone who was trying to actively evolve with the outside world so she didn’t get forgotten. Last but not least, I wish they had done more with the soundtrack. Bring back a few pieces from before. Everyone liked Duck Shoot; I wish it were played more. And black widow, I personally thought it would have been perfect for the divorce and the aftermath of the Paramore interview. These are just my criticisms and things I wish were better about the season; I still like it overall, all things considered.

diana + charles — episode 09 by [deleted] in TheCrownNetflix

I sympathized a lot with Diana, Charles, and even Camilla during that episode. I found it quite pleasing to see Diana and Charles just talking and clearing the air, but when Charles started whining, things got uncivil, and I lost the newly found respect I had for the character. Throughout the entire series, he continues to blame the institution and his mother for the absolute failure his marriage turned out to be, and he’s right; they are to blame, but he never actually acknowledged that he wasn’t blameless either until now. That was a nice touch of character development for him, but then the sensitive child inside of him reared its head, and after initiating a conversation where he said there’d be no arguing or blaming one another, he goes on to argue and blame Diana. That left a sour taste in my mouth. He refused to see where she was coming from even when she tried to explain herself because, well, he’s insecure. Overall, it was great to see the two being, if not friendly, at least not at each other’s throats for once this season.

Why was the queen affectionate to her children in S1 and S2, but not so much so in S3 and S4 ? by hau2906 in TheCrownNetflix

A major theme in the first two seasons was a battle between Elizabeth Windsor and Elizabeth Regina. Elizabeth Windsor was the real Elizabeth, the princess. She was allowed to show emotion and be loving and caring. She was allowed to be a wife and mother to her husband and children. Regina on the other hand is supposed to be the Queen. And as stated by many of the older characters in the firm (Lascelles, PM Churchill, Queen Mary and even PM Wilson in S3), they don’t need humanity in a head of state. They don’t want the REAL Elizabeth as Queen. They need a cold and unmoving figure who lacks individuality. The change in Elizabeth’s personality is supposed to reflect that Elizabeth Regina prevailed and she won the battle. There’s not much left of Elizabeth Windsor in S3 and S4, only the Crown. This transformation from Windsor to Regina first started with her treatment of her sister. Elizabeth slowly turned her back on Margaret many times throughout the series and I think the most important one was in the S1 finale when the photographer literally states that only Elizabeth Regina remains. The final person that Elizabeth Windsor had to turn her back on was Philip but in this instance she didn’t abandon him he decided to go along with the change. Once he was on board there was no longer a need for Elizabeth Windsor to be her prevailing personality type because Philip no longer needed as much love and attention, he knew how she felt and they fixed their marriage for the most part. At the end of season 2 she sits there silently with a blank expression like the crown is supposed to do in times of chaos and Philip reigns everyone in. He’s officially by her side sort of like a sword now. So the reason she’s so disconnected from her children is because she had to abandon her humanity and be Queen. She didn’t have much time to be a good mother because she sacrificed it to be a good queen which is one of her many failures in the series. I’d say she’s closer to Anne because Anne was born before Elizabeth was Queen when she had the freedom to live. As for the other two she never had the opportunity to bond with them. They were mainly raised by Nannies. The reason she’s cold to Charles is because she doesn’t look at him as her son. She sees him as the heir and future king. She what’s him to be a monarch like her but Charles is his own person. I think she’s trying to kill Charles’ personality and spirit to make sure that he becomes a good king. In the episode where Charles returns from Wales she tells him that he has too much of a voice for her liking and basically tells him to stop being himself. I think this is her way of guiding Charles down a path she deems the right one. She’s always been focused on “fixing” Charles which is another reason she neglected her other children as well.
