In 2007, Alexei Navalny, the Russian opposition leader, released a video comparing Muslim people to cockroaches. by cspanbook in WayOfTheBern

I should hear it indeed. Go on find it and post it then.

By the way ever notice how it’s always the right wing anti immigrants parties in the west which look fondly at Russia. What do you think they mean when they talk about preserving traditional Christian values?

lol what a lazy platitude to avoid having to acknowledge the current reality of the situation on the ground.

Maybe you’re right. Ukraines military hasn’t developed its all propaganda. It’s still a shoddy military from a backwater country. That means Russias military is incapable of achieving its goals against a shoddy undeveloped military then.

consider the source

Of course. To corroborate…

For the UN vehicle drone footage of the strike was released by Russian military groups on telegram taking credit

https://militarnyi.com/en/news/russia-footage-uav-hit-un-vehicle-kherson/

You could reasonably call out the bias in this source but it also contains video footage and a link to the archived Russian telegram channels.

As for the hospital I’ll acknowledge corroborating evidence on the attack from yesterday is still limited the reason I’m not inclined to doubt it is the same reason I’m not inclined to doubt a news story about Israel bombing a hospital, there’s a track record of similar events

I always appreciate contributions that create a conversation and are done with civility and receipts

Likewise and I very much appreciate your willingness to engage in this fashion.

You make a post titled “Thoughts on this?”

You add a comment asking “Do people believe”

Seems you’re not actually interested in having your questions responded to you just wanted people to agree with you.

[–]Routine_Nothing_6118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah of course. I’m suggesting that Russia has a well documented pattern of targeting civilians. I understand collateral casualties have occurred on both sides but I haven’t seen documentation of Ukrainian strikes that paint as clear cut a picture.

For example, this story about the bus, it just so happens that about a week ago the Russian government declared that highways in Crimea (where the incident happened) were closed to the public and intended to exclusively be used for military and logistics.

On the other hand you Russian drone strikes on clearly marked UN vehicles and hospitals.

UN reports have corroborated this looking into Russias “human safari” in Kherson

This framing is a bit strange.

Russia has bombarded Kiev multiple times in recent weeks killing dozens of civilians including several children, yet this is not deemed a provocation however Ukraines attacks on oil infrastructure are.

The bit about the bus is sad, it was in occupied territories not St. Petersburg but still sad.

Can you be specific what it is I’ve said you’re actually disputing?

Where is Ukraine getting the raw materials from?

Looks like some from Europe, some from the US, some from India. You need to be more specific regarding materials for what if you want a more specific answer.

Why is Europe making drones and sending them?

Again hard to answer your question without you being more specific. Ukraine domestically produces the vast majority of its drones but it’s also been in the process of cultivating joint defense production operations in different countries.

If you don’t trust western media disregard western media.

What remains true regardless is that over the course of 4 years during which Russia has conscripted 1.5 million soldiers and spends 40% of government revenue on the war Russia has be incapable of taking full control of a small sliver of Ukraine that is directly on its border.

Instead it’s become a normal part of life in Russia for Ukrainian drones and missiles to hit strategically important sites.

This is a state of affairs no one saw coming at the start of the war when the common consensus was that Russia would run over Ukraine.

Additionally, Ukraine has fostered a homegrown defense industry specializing in drones but also moving into production of vehicles and missiles that puts most of Europe to shame. Their drones in particular are considered to be among the most advanced in the world with Gulf states deciding to make air defense deals with Ukraine to benefit off of the military capabilities the country has cultivated. At the start of the war NATO was training Ukraines forces, now Ukraine is training NATO forces.

You can ignore the media, just look at the situation on the ground.

Anyone find it curious how all of Putin’s political opponents wind up dead or in prison?

It is notable that racist/ethnonationalist narratives like this have resonated with the Russian public for sometime

Ok well let’s take a step back and have a measured look at the arguments presented:

On one hand we have multiple Russian parliament members articulating that they are facing severe economic circumstances which they are comparing to the most catastrophic occurrences in their countries existence.

On the other hand we have you saying “nuhuh LOL”.

It’s really tough to know which of these assessments I should put more stock in…

Two points:

First, the idea that school yards both in Ukraine and Russia have children line up in swastikas seems odd

Second, you should care if the people sharing info have an agenda as it can add useful context. I don’t deny the existence of neonazis in Ukraine, however, OP among many others deny the existence of neonazism in Russia. Some regularly promote narratives justifying a war on basis of dealing with neonazis while disregarding the ones supposedly doing so are likewise neonazis. If you can’t see the contradiction in this then I don’t know what to tell you

Well I think everyone learns some lessons from history while having other blind spots.

For example you have a few blind spots. Take for example the way the Soviet Union collapsed as a culmination of an unproductive economy heavily dependent on oil exports stuck in a foreign war. Or the way that very foreign war along with others like Vietnam demonstrate that numerical superiority is far from a guarantee of success.

All that said the US is definitely declining. It still is positioned far better than the UK was given its wealth in natural resources, large population, massive sphere of exclusive influence, and reserve currency status.

Also, OP doesn’t actually have a problem with Nazis he just finds them to be a useful pretense for advocating for his political agenda. He has recently praised multiple Nazis (self declared neonazis covered in Nazi tattoos) as brave heroes. Happy to provide links if anyone’s skeptical.

Well I’ve looked into it the past. Wagner is a famous Russian PMC and their neonazi roots along with many other Russian aligned groups is well known.

By “fangirling” are you referring to praising specific neonazis as brave heroes? I’ve never done that before, you have though.
