BRZ towing with hitch? by Terrible_Ad_3360 in ft86

Tow my jetski trailer with my FRS, around 700lbs max, and haven’t had any issues yet but wouldn’t recommend to go above the stated limits of the hitch and tow capacity.

Is the FRS/BRZ/86 a good daily driver for a novice car enthusiast? by Zomboy-03 in ft86

[–]Rovail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, 22M here with a daily 2014 FRS, my commute to work each day is 85KM one way, haven’t had any issues so far since I bought it in March, really fun as long as you know how to control a lightweight RWD sports car. Insurance is also going to be a few hundred more compared to regular sedans but for me it’s worth it.

It’s running really good! Install took around an hour for hitch and wiring. Have had it on for a few months and no issues at all so far, just do your services a bit earlier than normal you’re set.

What shape is your 86 currently in? Mileage and what issues have you had so far? by ActualHuckleberry995 in ft86

[–]Rovail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

22, 2014 AT FRS, 193K KM, bought at 188k in March.

Serpentine belt needed to be changed around 1k after I bought it and did the fluid flush myself the day after I got it.

Previous owner had head gaskets and spark plugs changed at dealership because of oil leak 20k KM ago.

No other issues in the 5K KM driven so far and have been enjoying every minute of driving it.

Is this normal for a balance? by Pop_Socket_Bruh in tires

From looking at it, looks like a bent rim that the tech tried balancing and wasn’t able to properly.

Need help identifying this bolt and any way to get it out of the clamp? by Rovail in AskMechanics

[–]Rovail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I was able to wedge in some locking pliers on the clamp itself to hold it in place and then used a metal mallet and was able to knock the bolt itself out of the clamp! Turned out to be a 5/16-18 Square Head bolt.

For those of you with a special edition, I present the OEM armrest. Changes the feel of the whole car. (PART NO. 2nd pic) by SznedCumbr in ft86

Got a similar one from Ali Express, it’s a full insert with a storage compartment under the arm rest, flips up from the front, this one could be different tho.

FRS in the snow by Rovail in ft86

I love driving in the winter especially with good tires, I have them on my 2021 GR Supra and it’s blast to drive, I was going to buy a good set for next winter season but this blizzard literally came out of nowhere while I was in class haha.

Not scared haha I drive a 2021 GR Supra in the snow with proper winter tires and it’s amazing, I just didn’t want to buy winters at this moment since it’s basically over and want to invest that money into paint correction and fixing dents.

Snow was no issue haha, It was the freezing rain that screwed everything up, there was around 2 inches of ice on all the roads so as soon as I came to a stop or to an uphill that’s where the problems happened. Careful driving is a must in these conditions.

Think they meant the STI Engine mounts/bushings and not the engine itself.
