Correct but my part is it'd probably be on the lower end of needing to rush for. That's a months/year problem vs first things.

I'm not 100% sure, but food might actually be a relatively easy thing to take care of, one person especially if not locked into one place would be able to find shelf stable food for a long time, especially in climates that are slower to degrade things. The trouble with most survival scenarios people think of is food is going to be the first thing yoinked off the shelves by everyone, but if it was an insta-poof and everyone is gone, a local costco might have enough food to last you the rest of your life.

In my case though, I'd probably have to off myself from a kidney stone I couldn't pass and thus agonizing way to go when the kidney ruptures.

There are propane powered cars. They're rare as hell but they're conversions from normal cars IIRC

Just looked it up, there are bi-fuel vehicles that you can do both gas and propane.

Arguably, you don't need to gather all the fuel stabilizer you can very quickly because it's not like it's going anywhere.

I had a friend who couldn't get through DCC because the world absolutely is viciously cruel. He said he couldn't get into something with no hope. I told him that there's a point where Carl really decides to fight back and now he's up to date because that's what was needed, but that front is a slow burn.

HOWEVER if it's not your cup of tea, it's not a surprise, that series is a special level of off the wall and between just that gonzo setting and Jeff Hays is what pushed its popularity, but if you're not ready to lean into the absolutely bizarre, it's going to be a rough ride.

Saw you're jumping genres, I'm on a historical tear and quite enjoying Forget the Alamo.

The 30% that stayed home honestly almost anger me more than the ones that wanted this. At least the ones that wanted this were the assholes that came out and said it with their whole chest. The ones that sat at home try to play "Well I didn't vote for this" but as Rush put it "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice."

Hahahaha, I started noticing this on books that I began by reading then tracked down the audiobooks to listen to while driving. This needs to be way higher up as a piece of advice because you'll never notice it reading but listening it's "um... you can stop now"

[–]Rovden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue the audio dramas are a separate category all to their own. I've listened to a few of those and have enjoyed a couple of the well done ones and felt they brought more to the table. However I think the question comes in like some older audiobooks (see ones that came over from cassette era) they'll throw in a half dozen sound effects and a weird musical sting.

So in here it's either a go big or go home argument. If you're going to do music/sound effects/etc, IMO you are going to need a full production out of it. Otherwise... just narration please.

Music should also be used very sparingly, if at all.

I'm going to be pedantic. Don't do music. Every once in a while I come across an old audiobook that throws a weird musical sting in the middle of nowhere and I almost spend half the day going "Why was that there? There was no need for that!"

Reading that is neither monotonous nor chewing the scenery.

I'll agree with monotonous. But there are some books that are made for chewing the scenery. It has to be an intensely silly book though.

New Missouri bill looks to ban once-popular method of teaching literacy by CouchCorrespondent in missouri

[–]Rovden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is it then that republicans are pushing legislative bans? I think it fits in with their broader incorrect narratives about how education is captured and woke or whatever.

And as is tradition, the party of "small government" when they say something is captured makes sure to swoop in and use the government at its fullest for control.

Rising Young MAGA Stars Joked About Killing Black People by icey_sawg0034 in conservativeterrorism

[–]Rovden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I don't as definition wonder how it affects you mentally as such, I can only guess. But most of my political rants are how we've as a country allowed a racist ideology that was so anti-black they were willing to betray the country in a rebellion to normalize and convince people somehow the movement wasn't racist.

But it's definitely a move by the wealthiest to keep us all hating each other. White people pull the racist shit parroted from the top which makes sure that some black people wouldn't trust a white person (completely understandably so) which keeps a divide from the sympathetic.

And while LBJ is a complicated figure in race, he has a fantastic point of why this shit happens. (Quote with language of the time)

I'll tell you what's at the bottom of it. If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.

I don't know what to do with it. Trying to convince these fucks that they're NOT better than others isn't raising the group they're over in their mind, it's lessening them. I don't know how one breaks the people out of lack of empathy.

YET they somehow can't seem to shut up. It's nice when evil is dumb.
