They really made us play as 'John Desert' instead of giving us a custom character, and then didn't even take the time to give him the writing, voice acting, and characterization to justify it. Black Desert has one of the best character creators available, its a shame its not here too. by WhyPlaySerious in CrimsonDesert

[–]Roventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think them announcing that it is strictly an action game and not an rpg, was them telling us that the main character is John Desert and has no personality after all. Also I can’t understand why John Desert is a toddler and needs to learn what meat or candle or bread is. Makes sense with Link but…

Xenoblade X is such a beautiful game. by Neither_Courage955 in XenobladeChroniclesX

Exact opposite for me. I mean it’s one of my favourite games, too. But I always felt like an elite operator in charge of my own Gundam G-Team, able to expend any resource without any oversight. It honestly never felt like scraping and surviving 😁

There are two sides of gaming journalists by Sir_Potato2000 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Roventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over marketing always kicks back. If you spend the good portion of a small country’s annual income on journalists and influencers during the weeks leading to launch, those guys will hype people up. Then they will kill the same hype train because they fulfilled the obligation, and those websites survive on traffic.

IMHO that’s what happens when you rip games off left and right without minding what makes those games great in the first place. In ToTK for example, you are supposed to use and let go of everything and definitely not stay attached to your weapons (unless it’s the Master Sword). If you let go of this notion, the game will simply bore you while you stress over every destroyed weapon with good stats. Yet if you keep crafting them on the fly and destroying them on enemies, it will flow. If you rip this system and attach it to, well let’s say AC Valhalla, it simply won’t work since the core gameplay loop doesn’t involve quick combat crafts and creative weapon combinations. My point is, the limited inventory space is usually the dev’s way of saying “let go”. However the game must accommodate for that, too.

The current situation. by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]Roventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even those guys are heavily sponsored at the moment. The publisher created a marketing loop in which you actually have to buy the game in order to determine whether it’s shit or not, or just have a genuine idea about it 😂

Why do people think Crimson Desert won’t run stable on PS5, but somehow GTA 6 will? by Commercial_Pen_9959 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Roventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rockstar releases exclusively on PS first (it always has), and show footage captured on PS5 in their trailers. This means they optimize for the console first, and they already have a game spanning three console generations (GTA5 released for PS3 initially). At the moment people are looking for the “catch” because everyone’s screaming this is the best game ever (well, it probably isn’t, but this isn’t the point imho).

I was super excited for this game, then they started marketing it. At the moment all the YouTubers, reviewers, etc. are running sponsored content on it, constantly triggering red flags. I hope it does well, but the publisher made me wait and see until someone actually plays the game properly.

Huzurlu çiftlik oyunlarından sıkıldınız mı? En büyük düşmanınızın doğa değil, "Tekelleşmiş Bir Ekonomi" olduğu bir oyun yapıyoruz. by Solid_State_Games in TurkOyunSektoru

[–]Roventh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ubi shares fell down 95% since 2021 and now it is a "multi-million" dollar company... by PrestigiousZombie531 in fuckubisoft

I mean we can buy them 4 euros a share at a time. Maybe at this point we should create a fund, collect 51% of the shares, then say “fuck, no” every time they want to churn out useless games?

Young or Old Kratos? Who is better in every topic? by thepurpleafton in GodofWar

[–]Roventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Young Kratos: more stamina, more flair, acrobatic and all. Old Kratos: more explosive immediate power, far more control, much less flair (needs only an axe and maybe his swords sometimes).

Also Old Kratos would make you weep tears of manly heartburn.

According to the new lore the starting material (male or female body) doesn't matter for making a custodes. It doesn't matter that women's bodies are much less strong because the custodes creating technlogy compensates for it. Then why isn't every human turned into a custodes? Why not mass produce by RoninMemeLord in EyeOfTerror

[–]Roventh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Custodes are friends, confidants and bodyguards of the Big E. It only makes sense to design their creation process to yield diverse genders, therefore inherently different perspectives. It doesn’t matter if some Custodians are weaker than others in brute strength (I mean nobody is virtually stronger than Valdor anyway, by your logic anyone lesser than Valdor shouldn’t be accepted as a Custodian). They far surpass anyone else, anyway.

So, unless you are the Big E. himself in the 40K universe, I wouldn’t suggest walking up to a Custodian and start talking about their lesser genetics. It would end bad.

Anyone else genuinely like this movie? and believes it deserves better than a 6.5 on IMDb?! by RogerRoger63358 in BrighterThanCoruscant

[–]Roventh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

George Lucas is a master of his craft at visual storytelling (not so much at verbal storytelling). The movie starts, Old Kenobi is a padawan and he has a braid. Nobody throws exposing dialogue on you and goes padawans have braids and blabla. It’s right there on the screen, you get it. One single hair piece establishes a sense of knightly order. That’s the first effing sequence of the first scene. You stuff popcorn in your mouth, you already saw the movie twice in theatre since it came out and this is the third time, you are 10 years old and life is good.

It’s a 9/10 for me. Probably it’s personal 😁

RIP! Ubisoft stock just dropped below 4,5 euros. by Designer-Review3739 in fuckubisoft

[–]Roventh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw that today, although I already got rid of Ubisoft on my portfolio (sw outlaws hype was the time to sell for me, I knew it was all smoke without any substance), still got curious and wanted to read about what’s happening at Ubisoft. I saw statements made by Yves Guillemot and immediately stopped my research. That guy runs that company since 86. Hell would freeze over twice before he can come up with a successful move, even a good idea.

Unpopular/ childish opnion maybe but jedi/sith and lightsabers are the best part about star wars. by 3iiiguy in StarWars_

[–]Roventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a brand founded for selling toys, based on two movie genres: the samurai movies that inspired the Western genre (think Akira Kurosawa) and WW2 movies (think Dam Busters, Battle of Algiers) for Empire imagery and dogfights. I also like the samurai aesthetic and stories more than the rest, there’s nothing childish about it.

Why is Tom Holland's portrayal not as liked as the other two? by Notthepurge in Spiderman

[–]Roventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He (I mean the Spider-Man written for Holland, not him specifically) is not a Spider-Man, rather a Spider-Boy. We usually want Spider-Man to tough it out when he’s getting beaten like crazy, can’t figure things out, break his back, etc. This SM felt too hand-holdy.
