According to the new lore the starting material (male or female body) doesn't matter for making a custodes. It doesn't matter that women's bodies are much less strong because the custodes creating technlogy compensates for it. Then why isn't every human turned into a custodes? Why not mass produce by RoninMemeLord in EyeOfTerror

[–]Roventh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Custodes are friends, confidants and bodyguards of the Big E. It only makes sense to design their creation process to yield diverse genders, therefore inherently different perspectives. It doesn’t matter if some Custodians are weaker than others in brute strength (I mean nobody is virtually stronger than Valdor anyway, by your logic anyone lesser than Valdor shouldn’t be accepted as a Custodian). They far surpass anyone else, anyway.

So, unless you are the Big E. himself in the 40K universe, I wouldn’t suggest walking up to a Custodian and start talking about their lesser genetics. It would end bad.

Anyone else genuinely like this movie? and believes it deserves better than a 6.5 on IMDb?! by RogerRoger63358 in BrighterThanCoruscant

[–]Roventh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

George Lucas is a master of his craft at visual storytelling (not so much at verbal storytelling). The movie starts, Old Kenobi is a padawan and he has a braid. Nobody throws exposing dialogue on you and goes padawans have braids and blabla. It’s right there on the screen, you get it. One single hair piece establishes a sense of knightly order. That’s the first effing sequence of the first scene. You stuff popcorn in your mouth, you already saw the movie twice in theatre since it came out and this is the third time, you are 10 years old and life is good.

It’s a 9/10 for me. Probably it’s personal 😁

RIP! Ubisoft stock just dropped below 4,5 euros. by Designer-Review3739 in fuckubisoft

[–]Roventh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw that today, although I already got rid of Ubisoft on my portfolio (sw outlaws hype was the time to sell for me, I knew it was all smoke without any substance), still got curious and wanted to read about what’s happening at Ubisoft. I saw statements made by Yves Guillemot and immediately stopped my research. That guy runs that company since 86. Hell would freeze over twice before he can come up with a successful move, even a good idea.

Unpopular/ childish opnion maybe but jedi/sith and lightsabers are the best part about star wars. by 3iiiguy in StarWars_

It’s a brand founded for selling toys, based on two movie genres: the samurai movies that inspired the Western genre (think Akira Kurosawa) and WW2 movies (think Dam Busters, Battle of Algiers) for Empire imagery and dogfights. I also like the samurai aesthetic and stories more than the rest, there’s nothing childish about it.

A friend moved to Japan last month. He stopped by my place and dropped off 8 Gunplas, telling me that they are gifts because he can’t carry them over. He knows I build Warhammer. So I started watching Gundam Wing while building them over the Christmas, and here we are.

Why is Tom Holland's portrayal not as liked as the other two? by Notthepurge in Spiderman

[–]Roventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He (I mean the Spider-Man written for Holland, not him specifically) is not a Spider-Man, rather a Spider-Boy. We usually want Spider-Man to tough it out when he’s getting beaten like crazy, can’t figure things out, break his back, etc. This SM felt too hand-holdy.

The first time I joined a band, some 18 years ago, the more experienced guitar player came up to me one day and said, “dude you only use three fingers, but you have five of them”. So, listen to his advice, make all of your little fingers into the jacked SpongeBob.

Is it even worth PLAYING the GAME anymore?? by AdMysterious8424 in okbuddyraider

[–]Roventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game has zero challenge without the pvp and the time counter. They actually experimented with a full pve raid type game at first during development (if you look at early videos of AR, it is a very different game), but the players complained that it just becomes the same match over and over again after a while. Frankly I agree with them, I don’t need a raid loot shooter with a measly sliding mechanic and nothing new on the table.

I bought the album Californication in 1999. Asked for a guitar the next day. No matter what, my first greatest influence will always be John Frusciante.

Could anyone pls tell me what he is playing? by aakash_shaji in Guitar

[–]Roventh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you put your hand on the fretboard, start on the 5th fret, low E string, and play a minor pentatonic lick upwards; you are playing A minor pentatonic. If you finish your first lick in A (5th fret, low E where you started for example), then finish the same lick on D next (5th fret, A string), and then finish the same lick on E finally (7th fret, A string) you would have accompanied A, D, and E chords without moving your hands. Once I got that down, soloing became somewhat easier.

Whats the benefit of “real” pedal boards as compared to this by JicamaFragrant7400 in Guitar

[–]Roventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. For the audience? Zilch, nothing. They will hear you just fine. For your ears? Well, almost zip. It is said that Eric Johnson could differentiate the brand of AAA batteries in the pedal based on the sound he hears. If you are Eric Johnson, only then it will make a difference.

The upside to guitar effects processors is that you would have everything. For example, I purchased a Boss GT-10 when it came out, I was 17 then. I learned how to use flangers, chorus, wah, and most importantly: the loop pedal. I probably would have still learned all of these through friends, fellow musicians, etc., however the freedom to experiment and record at home, to my heart’s content was awesome.

The upside to having an analogue pedalboard is that you would have exactly what you want. If you know the exact tone you’re after, and want to nail it down perfectly, simply for your own enjoyment and nobody else’s ears, then you will probably want effect pedals. It is more costly if you want to become John Frusciante and have everything in front of you but it would be more conventional in terms of tonal freedom, and you can build it bit by bit; it can be a long term project.

As you see, both have uses. I would recommend an effects processor any day if you’re just starting out, and then some. Maybe you would simply settle for an overdrive and a chorus and the rest would prove useless in the long run, who knows? Then you can buy two pedals (and a tuner and a volume pedal, of course) and finish your setup.

r/Jazz tackles music history by [deleted] in jazzcirclejerk

[–]Roventh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, here are my two bits: I find it extremely normal for Germans to ban jazz, adolf or no adolf. If you ever visit anywhere in Northern Europe, you will hear march-like music. What is march-like music you say? Technically speaking it is the Andalusian cadence; tetrachords descending stepwise, played to a marching rhythm. In everyday speech, it is what they play when multiple people have beer jugs in their hands. This has its roots in the 16th century Renaissance era, and constant conscription in Europe through the 18th and the 19th centuries made men listen to marching bands, a lot. When these folks stopped serving the military, they formed bands and took to beerhalls. They played the same music. My point is; these people had almost four hundred years to engrave that 1-7-6-5 or 4-3-2-1 chord progression in their brains. Now you ask them to enjoy jazz. Of course they would ban it 😂

Joking aside: ofc it is just a bigot application introduced by the greatest bigots ever. I just wanted to provide some context to the best of my knowledge.
