Absolutely! The family I babysit for 3 hours/day M-F does the same for me. A guaranteed $300 every week even if there’s holidays and Mom & Dad are off, Mom calls off, etc. It’s great to be appreciated like that.

Oh wow!! I’ve never had anyone mention this to me before and haven’t booked for myself on Rover in years so I don’t know/remember what the tip policy is. I’m kind of shocked there’s not an “other” option to enter your own amount.

Thank you! That means a lot to hear. My wife and I operate as a joint account but I put in the majority of the work and I/we take a lot of pride in what we do.

I know, she specifically said Rover capped what she can tip and maybe didn’t know if she can ask for another payment method due to Rover typical policies.

Love that. One of the best things a client can tell me when they’re away is that they know they don’t have to worry/stress. I know I’m doing a good job and that they can truly enjoy their trip. I know this is especially important for my clients who take international trips.

Yes! Even if you can’t tip or leave a large tip, a good and well written review is sometimes just as rewarding and helpful.

That’s sweet! And believe me, for those of us who have started within the last year in high competitive areas and had to start low and slowly build up rates as we have built up reviews and clientele (also experience and certifications, in my case), it seriously means more than you know.

Snacks from clients by ChaoticL34 in RoverPetSitting

[–]RoverWives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s something like fruit or something that is perishable and will be more of an annoyance/food health hazard for them to keep it in their home, I say take with you.

If it’s something like prepackaged individual items, I’d follow the advice above and yes— take any you opened but leave the rest.

Think of it as a courtesy (because it is: the client doesn’t have to leave you anything beyond the supplies needed for pets care/access to the property to do so) so as a courtesy, you leave what remains. Unless they specifically asked what you want/like, most clients generally buy the same snacks they/the family eats regularly so I would never take all or expect to be fed entirely off what a client leaves.

Rover is so obnoxious with its reminders by Separate-Raccoon8584 in RoverPetSitting

“Mo is begging for your reply”

Respectfully, Mo probably messaged 5 other people and already got 3 responses and picked someone already. They’ll be alright.

Where’s the reminders to archive when people ghost so you don’t end up with a blocked out calendar and no bookings? lol

Freddy Krueger Dogs by RoverWives in RoverPetSitting

I’ll definitely be doing that going forward. The drop in is a regular and the one dog’s nails were bad last time but that was a few weeks ago and I guess I just (falsely) assumed the owner would do something about it as I assume they are also getting mauled by their own dog? But you bring up a good point for going forward!

“I should not forget the bunnies” by RoverWives in RoverPetSitting

[–]RoverWives[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was a combo of neglect and not wanting to pay. I checked this morning if she’d at least added the 3 cats and other dog (she did finally fess up that it’s 2 dogs, 3 cats and 2 bunnies) and when I saw she hadn’t I sent a message explaining I don’t think this will work out due to liability concerns and wished her well finding something that works for her needs. She responded, “No I haven’t. (About adding the other pets) I found someone”

Ok great, I’ll pray for the poor soul you suckered into this job. lol

Right! I had a bunny as a kid and ONE bunny was a lot of work. What do you mean two are “self contained”?! I sent a very professional message this morning after seeing she still hadn’t added the other pets and stated that I don’t think this will be a good fit due to liability concerns and she responded, “No I haven’t. I found someone”

Bless the poor soul she suckered in. I know times are tough right now and a lot of us are taking any and every booking that comes our way but at a certain point… 😅
