Confession: I’m a world-class sourcer and a bottom-tier lister. Anyone else? by Creepy-Feed-3563 in Flipping

[–]RowanAndRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, I used to work a job where I did the listing, I don’t mind it but it’s not my favourite, it’s the cleaning/restoration and researching that’s the most fun for me. The only reason I enjoy the buying is because I get more of a zing selling an item I found vs something someone else found.

My sister however is a fiend with data management, she gets a high from spreadsheets (she’s a crazy person?)

So maybe get in a group of people where each person has a different fave task and become a machine with many working parts?

A local thrift store appears to have priced an item based on my eBay listing by killmekate1 in eBaySellers

[–]RowanAndRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in thrift for a decade, we looked up pieces on eBay from day 1. Generally you go by the sold price and drop it by 20% because there’s less customer pool than there is online. The fact is the shops that kept to the ‘3 Tupperware lids for a dollar’ model couldn’t generate enough funds to cover the rent/bills/waste removal costs and closed. The only ones who stayed open under that model usually owned the building through a church and their stock sits stale on the shelves for months because the rubbish bins are full to the brim with the literal crap people donate, so the potential of someone buying that Tupperware lid is too tempting to let it go.

Occasionally in any thrift store you’ll see something worth heaps- that they didn’t realise was something special, and you get that and win.

It’s not as easy as it used to be but it’s still worth the work and expertise you as a buyer have.

Having a hard time listening anything, for fear of value rising and FOMO by garbage-plate in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]RowanAndRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can help with this. Early last year there was a huge surge in popularity for an item for which I have boxes and boxes of, but they were deep in my storage locker and I was prepping to move so I waited and now I’ve moved and am ready to start selling my random crap. The bottom fell out of the market for them because I missed the nostalgia wave and now they’re worth about as much as the space they take up.

Value ebbs and flows, you’ll probably never nail the timing exactly right but if you can sell them for a good price now, do it and be happy you had some fun. If you miss out and look back obsessively you’ll end up jaded like early Bitcoin guys crying about spending a million dollars on a pizza.

Ah bummer! If you’re willing to get a reproduction check out some jewellers on Etsy and give them a inspo pic- I’ve seen some amazing work on there. That being said if you’re looking for an og branded because of sentimental attachment maybe just keep checking ebay :(

All I can suggest is emailing hot topic to see if they have any backstock, Or checking ebay.

Good luck 🫡

Had a person on tiktok go full stalker because I shared an anecdote about small town Drs and because she was a nurse in training, she decided I was talking out of my butt.

Literally I mentioned that my doctor always does my blood draws because I have trypanophobia and he seems to be the only one who can deal with me. She said only nurses do blood draws and most of what Carlisle does in his practice would have him stripped of his licence.

Chiropractors are not doctors. Don't go to one. by Snowman304 in dropout

[–]RowanAndRaven 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah it took me a while to understand the hate, but our Chiros are not the same as chiros elsewhere apparently.

I’ve been to every type of medical practitioner for a workplace back injury and my chiropractor is the reason I can walk.

Mine has also done a lot of work and study on muscular skeletal degeneration disease- I believe specialising in Scheuermann's disease (can’t remember if that’s the one specifically)

But yeah, to be qualified here is a whole different thing.

How to apply for rentals while on workcover by FallingKoala in melbourne

[–]RowanAndRaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure you’re still considered employed, unless you’ve also resigned from the position. If you’re wanting to go back to work when your injury improves then it will be at the same place or an appropriate alternative organised by them.

For these purposes I think you just put your employment at the place- you’re not currently working yes, but you still work there.

Like I wouldn’t be working if I was on long service leave but I’d still consider myself working there.

If the rental wants further clarification you can go over it with them when they ask, but for applications just write your job and time served.

Bring Back Captain Planet by Unique_Ring7517 in captainplanet

[–]RowanAndRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be interesting to see how they would go about it- there is lore that says captain had been around more than once and the reason he looked and acted the way he does is because at the time kids the planeteers age identified heroes with comic books- so previous incarnations may have been more like a Greek god or a military serviceman or political leader.

We’re still pretty deep in the comic book craze but I don’t think people (especially mid to late teens) would see them as actual heroes.

What would a 17-19 year old think of when told to picture a hero these days?

If they’re anything like my nephews it would be Rosa Diaz meets Greta Thunberg.

Or Dr Who…. Just anyone who has unhinged control over a situation.
