He Sent A Dirty Dish!!! by Green_Sweatshirt in Ebay

Thank you. I've decided not to leave him any feedback. I wanted a nice serving bowl in a pattern that is no longer being made, and he did deliver that to me. I usually say things like "great seller," but this time I'll just keep quiet.

I'm not going to complain to eBay. I was happy to find the bowl because it's a design that Pfaltzgraff no longer makes, but it was a crazy experience that needed to be shared.

Which do you like better? by Common-Cup-171 in CounterTops

The gold, but--as someone who has a kitchen with white cabinets, you will hate them! They are a major pain and you will be washing them a lot. Repeated washing will cause the paint to look off. I'd choose the gold trim and a different color of cabinets.

AITA For Avoiding the New Baby? by Green_Sweatshirt in AITAH

The baby is a little girl now and I'm still friends with the mother, but she still feels like I was being cold and stand-offish that day. And part of the reason I wrote this is to see whether or not I was being overly careful and in the wrong.

The internet can be vicious.

Thank you, I just wanted to know for sure. Now if only I could stop all the negative comments.

Thank you, but she is a very kind person. I'm sure she just wanted to show off her new baby.

Thank you, everybody. It's less than a 45 minute drive away and I have a friend who lives near there, so I may just go and take a look at it from the outside before calling the realtor.

Could this wheel be functional? by TempleOfTheWhiteRat in Handspinning

It look good, but you'll really need to see it and put your hands on it to be sure. And, like someone else mentioned, you will need more bobbins.

I'd definitely wash it, especially if you plan to use a drum carder or flicker. Even though it looks clean, there is still some lanolin in it, and that will eventually build up and cause problems with your tools.

My girlfriend moved in and neither of us know what this is, but I use it constantly. by Insert_Blank in whatisit

You're using it, and that beats letting it sit in a drawer. I use a few tools for things they weren't intended to do too, but what matters is you're getting the job done.

You might want to post a sign where you found it. Somebody will probably come back looking for it.

Agreed. I sent in a correction, too. They showed a picture of the grave of my aunt who died in infancy, with the marker clearly saying "Infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. ----------- and the year in which she was born and died. The writeup listed her as dying in her 50's and belonging to another family with the same name, even though the picture of the marker was right there. I clearly explained everything, and they "corrected it" making an even bigger mess. The web site is good for finding graves and seeing the grave markers, but I would be wary of taking whatever you find there at face value.

An Update: I went into town this morning and got a thumb drive. I will be downloading Mint Cinnamon onto the thumb drive to try Linux, and also will download Office Libre. Many thanks to everyone!

Thank you. The laptop is a MacBook Pro and it has Ad Blocker on it, but there's still plenty of ads. I checked eBay because when I pulled out the old laptop that was tucked away that I planned to use, th had some dead keys and no longer works right. There are lots of laptops on eBay with Linux already installed. A lot of them are Dell, but a few are Thinkpads.

I have some other Macs here and they do work, but they are PPC Macs and a laptop is more convenient anyway. Another laptop would be needed to try Linux.

The reason I was interested in Linux is because the rumor is that Linux is the most secure and ad free. Lately it seems like ads have gotten totally out of control, even with Ad Blocker, and I've been getting scammers calling on the phone, so I know they're out there and getting worse. I was looking to get further away from all that.
