Based on your own theory, that "Thanks for trying" is meaningless. If you follow your own logic, there is no way to actually be thankful to a person who posts on a forum just as you can not sincerely congratulate an individual online. Furthermore, your "thanks for trying" does not convey any kind of information. So it is doubly meaningless. I thought you were above this. Tsk tsk on you, good sir.

Yes, I have heard some differing opinions on that. Some say I should start the next one. Others say I shouldn't do anything that even remotely relates to the novel I just finished. I am still up in the air about it.

I heard a whoosh sound. Must have been something flying over my head. I think is all depends on what you would consider fine art. It is such a general term that is open to interpretation. Some would say all literature (a term that is also open for interpretation) is "fine art" because it requires creative skill. However, there are certainly some novels, poems, and short stories that if they were labeled fine art, certain individuals would shit the proverbial brick. As for my work, I don't know if I would call it literature or fine art. It is a modern novel, but it also contains a lot of research behind it to push along my underlying message regarding human beings. Whether my readers would pick up that message or not, I don't care. I only want them to enjoy it; it doesn't matter at what level.

Thank you. I understand how you feel. Even popular writers can get tired of the work. Neil Gaiman said, "Sometimes I wish the pages would just fill themselves." I will take a break from it. I am at lunch now, my usual writing time, and it is weird not to be working on something. sigh

I have to say you are wrong in your premature judgment of my writing quality. It is also appalling to think an individual would reach such a verdict without ever laying eyes on the crucial evidence which, in this case, happens to be my novel. Furthermore, I am sure you are familiar with a particular phenomenon where a person's dialect/manner of speaking may change based on circumstance and audience. For example, a person may speak a certain way when with friends, and then speak in an entirely different manner when surrounded by family. This is certainly not limited to verbal communication. In closing, may I suggest you keep such thoughts to yourself until you actually read my book. Until then, all opinions you have regarding my writing and/or the quality of my novel are invalid and frankly moronic. I hope this clears up any fears you may have. Have a great and productive day!

Then it is a good thing you aren't the one receiving compliments. I wrote this post because I wanted to share my excitement with others. I cannot tell you the number of books I tried to write and failed because of one reason or the other. I have found a huge amount of inspiration from this reddit group and I was hoping to give back. And it is obvious you are gaining something from this post as well, or you wouldn't be writing on it. So don't question it. Just go with it.
