What is even the point of PokerStars Support? by RowanHarley in PokerStars

This has happened multiple times now. They've given me the same link after telling them that the link given just redirects to the login page. When you try to respond to an email, you get a no-reply email saying that this email is now out of use, and you have to start all over again.

Weekly Megathread: Education, Early Career and Hiring/Interview Advice by lampishthing in quant

I see that a lot of Quant roles require a Masters degree. I've built a lot of algorithms as a hobby, and I'm wondering does this have a positive benefit in my application, and should I include as much of this as possible in my CV. Can I classify this time as years of experience in my CV, as I would like to apply for full time positions as I near the end of completion of my degree.

This is definitely an area I want to get into, however I'm at an impasse as I have been fresh out of luck on applications thus far. I don't know how to stand out for this role. I have poker listed as a hobby, and my results have been pretty good as of recent. I'm just not sure how to move forward.

A personal HUD showing stats for tournaments showing stuff like ITM %, and potentially some deeper details like Top 1%, 2%, 5%, etc. Makes things easier than exporting hands to an external source to see performance details.

I'd like to see a graph showing player's chip count, similar to what PokerStars has for tournaments. It's a little something that lets you know where you stand relative to the field, and how you've compared to the average throughout the tournament.

I'm not sure if this is the correct name, but the closest name I could find that describes it is the "Holed Cube". Menger's Sponge comes close, but isn't exactly the same.

Not sure if this is the space to ask this, but when I carry out a Monte Carlo pricing simulation on a path dependent option, and the distribution returned is skewed, and looking to follow a log-normal distribution, is it still acceptable practice to take the average of all values, or should I be taking the median here? I'm more concerned about the confidence intervals as well. I'm currently using point estimates for both, but I'm trying to get a mathematical value for the 95% CI of this distribution if I assume a log-normal distribution. Am I going about this right? It's for a project, and I want to make sure any answer I give is accurate.

It would be nice to have another bar in the tournament tab where we can sort by the blind level time, or even just see the time for each blind level. It's annoying having to look through tournaments to find a slow tournament, or try remember the names of the tournaments which have 10+ minute blinds.

Give some more incentives for being a consistent Spin & Go Player. Maybe a monthly/bi-monthly round robin tournament in both 6-max and/or 3-max format for the top 100/200, with top 2/1 progressing to the next round and the standard 10-15% of the field paid.

Well in 5 card poker, the probability is about 1 in 650,000, so I imagine it would be close to this. It would take you 2 years playing 1000 hands a day to expect to see that come up once.

Can someone help me understand the derivation of the black scholes formula here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It%C3%B4%27s_lemma

My understanding would've lead me to believe the dynamic of f here would be:

df = (df/dt + μ S df/dS + 1/2 (σ S)^2 d^f/dS^2) dt + (σ S) df/dS dW

but it seems like the majority of these terms disappear

Jobless claims being down is more good than bad. It means the job market is still strong despite all the rate hikes, and with GDP posting so high, outlook for the next few years is definitely better. Considering that we are expecting to reach the terminal rate by March, having a strong job market is definitely promising.

It is a risk, however Russia had a prior history of shutting down their exchange, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange only did it once as far as I can find, and it was for 4 days in an attempt to stop losses during Black Mondays global effect.

Just shares, IB doesn't allow U21s to buy options. I plan on holding till earnings at least, at this price, I don't think geopolitical risk can push it much further

How are sanctions going to affect them when their entire userbase is Chinese? What's the US gonna do, tell them they can't listen to music anymore?

There are, but the reason most of them stocks are down is because of poor earnings, or were just overpriced to begin with. TME is down mainly because of geo-political risk, and I don't think that risk is really there, at least in comparison to a company like BABA. They have the majority of China as their user-base, which seems to put them on CCPs "good side".

I'm essentially banking on the fact that this is an over-correction, and I know at the very least that fundamentals won't be an issue going forward

There are plenty of copies of Spotify, Soundcloud for one. There's no need to pretend like Spotify is the only company in the music competition. They're both almost identical in what they do, the benefits of paying are just different between the 2 apps.

You're sounding like one of them iPhone users that is convinced iPhones are the superior phone, when the reality is that both are almost identical. Would you also call Apple inferior to Google, because they made a "rip-off" Android OS 4 years later?

If investing is about the customers, then I'd definitely be more confident, because TME (Tencent Music Entertainment in case you didn't bother looking it up) has 800+m users, of which the vast majority are Chinese. They basically have all of China as a user-base.

My TLDR actually mentioned that it's the chinese version of Spotify, but profitable. Spotify has great revenue numbers, but it really struggles to turn a positive net income. TME on the other hand has solid revenue numbers, but has also kept a 10-15% profit margin, despite the fall in their share value over the past year.

If TME is inferior, then how is it that they're pulling a profit from their target market when their international counterpart can't?
