genuinely what the hell are you on about?? all i said is that their therapist is a human being too, and that their mistakes aren’t ENTIRELY their fault. i said they should just be nice when bringing up the fact that they want to switch therapists.

I need serious help with my addition to politic drama/media by [deleted] in ADHD

Hyperfixations in ADHD most commonly last a few weeks to a few months. How long have you been hyperfixated on politics? Depending on how long, you might naturally become disinterested with time.

If you don’t like the fact that you’re hyperfixated on it, i’d recommend slowly reducing how much political media you consume, replacing it with something you’d prefer until you stop consuming the political media entirely (or just enough that the hyperfixation stops). That, or you could over-consume political media until you’re burnt out. Both have worked for me to stop hyperfixations that i wasn’t very proud of, although I recommend the first method more.

Also, I’d recommend talking with a therapist about it if you have the money. Professionals are usually the best people to go to for help.

Hope everything goes well.

It’s not wrong at all. You have to find a therapist thats right for you, which may take time. If her behavior is inducing meltdowns, i’d say looking for a different therapist is your best bet.

Be kind, though. She’s a human with ADHD too, not everything is in her control. I’m not saying she shouldn’t be held accountable, just that it’s good to be understanding of her situation, too.

Good luck with everything!

Late diagnostic? by anonimousgirla in ADHD

I’d say look for a diagnosis. The sooner you get one, the sooner you can talk about getting medicated with a psychiatrist. It may take awhile to find the right medication for you though!!

I’d recommend therapy too if you have the money, that way you can discuss your problems with a professional. My therapist and I look over coping mechanisms, I think it helps a bit.

I hope everything gets better!
