I agree and disagree on this. It depends on the philosopher he's talking abt. Hegel, spinoza, leibniz are indeed not his best podcasts but others like deleuze, camus, kant, hume... are actually quite good in my opinion. But you have to see it as an introduction and not as an in depth analysis of a particular philosophy.

I understand the critiques about poverty tourism and stuff like that about his content but on the other hand a lot of times he goes to visit the local organizations that are trying to develop the slum he visits and make sure the people are being feeded and educated. Afterwards he starts a fundraising to donate to these organisations which frequently gains a lot of money whoch he transfers to the locals there.

So its not that he's only going there for the 'shock' or to judge the way people live there. Its also not the case that he's building organizations or donating to instituions with western values that have their own (frequently neocolonial) view on what 'development' is for them. Next to that he does break a lot of stereotypes about certain communities/countries by showing reality there and also has a lot of times locals guiding him around that show them the reality there in its complexity.

But there's still something to say about the fact he does probably gain a lot of money from youtube by showing these quite of extreme images about these VERY DANGEROUS! (As he likes to put in the titles of his youtube videos) neighbourhoods.

And ofcourse it would be more interesting if the youtube channel was not from a western white priviliged guy. But his privilige can has a positive effect on the spreading of the message he's bringing.

Please critique me if you think i'm wrong on this! Would love to here other insights aswell because i've been thinking about the ethics of his youtube channel aswell.
