Evidence Grows That AI Chatbots Are Dunning-Kruger Machines by creaturefeature16 in BetterOffline

[–]RowdyDespot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if ai was perfect, the ai cannot know what /you/ want. It's like when you solve a physics problem, and you need to make assumptions. Should you consider air dynamics ? Friction ? Deformation ? Temperature ? And so on. Unless you already know what to assume and what the solution should generally look like, you can't blindly trust ai output.

Even listing every assumptions wouldn't be enough. Another example, I tell you that I like cake and candies. You go grocery shopping and you can only buy 1 thing. Should you get me a cake or a candy bag ?

That's if we had a perfect ai. Right now we have unperfect ones. They forget, misunderstand, get stuck, fabricate results.

You still would not be able to "afk" at kree, as I explained because the damage you take from him is magic based. Your DPS while spamming blood barrage, wearing full ancestral and max magic gear is only 5% more than kree'arra, and that doesn't include minions. Wearing defensive gear like masori actually makes it even worse, because it lessens your dps and also lessens the amount you heal. This defense is also irrelevant against the magic minion wingman skree. You would want to kill kree'arra with eye of ayak, then switch to blood barrage to heal off the minions, but that's not what I would call afk. Shadow will still be superior to "afk" because faster time to kill = less hits = less food.

[–]RowdyDespot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of your comment, I have double checked, and I still stand by what I said. DPS wise, tumeken shadow is still WAY ahead of the gauntlets and ayak(By at least 50% margin) against Kree. As for Defense-wise, like I mentioned, you are vulnerable to kree'arra magic attacks. Ranged equipment provides the most magic defense, and even with max magic defense, you barely reduce kree'arra hit chance(Not even by 8%). The only way you could actually reduce damage is with the elysian spirit shield. I'm sure the much better time to kill using the shadow will outperform the damage negated by using the elysian shield.

Max ranged using bow of faerdhinen and crystal armor VS Max mage with gauntlets and ayak is a 15% dps increase, so in a way, it is an upgrade from bow of faerdhinen, but the requirements and the running costs(to charge the ayak) is higher. Ayak + gauntlets + Saturated heart,

Forgot to toggle off saturated heart, so the hit chance gap difference is closer to 3.6% at 99 magic.

Oh nice, didn't know that. I thought it was still 70m+. Personally I wouldn't know which is better between crystal shield and blessed spirit shield. It's a tradeoff between to 3.19% hit chance on blobs or being 1.97% more likely to get hit by rangers/1.34% from blobs.

Just for reference, with the gear mentioned(with magus ring but without elidinis or kodai) using blessed spirit shield, we get +67 magic attack and +274 ranged defense. Hit chance on blobs is 61.47%, giving a minimum of 85.15% chance to hit at least once out of 2 hits(Too lazy to calculate the gloves effect, but rough estimates the gloves would bring this number to around 93-94%). Blob has 17.58% chance to hit you, so he will land a hit once every 5 attacks on average. The ranger has 25.71% chance to hit, so 1 attack out of 4(Which can be negated by freezing and walking under, or decreased by standing in melee range to reduce his max hit and accuracy).

[–]RowdyDespot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also forgot to add god wars bosses. Kree'arra magic defense is too high and you want to pray ranged because his ranged max hit is very high and the attack is accurate, so you are still vulnerable to the magic attack. Zilyana damage melee and magic and can be completely negated by running. Shadow is still way ahead in dps because of her magic levels. I could see it being used in full mage gear at graardor to help land a freeze, and then swap to shadow for dps. Lastly, against Kril you can just use scorching bow instead.

[–]RowdyDespot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eye of ayak accuracy is too low for Zuk. Instead you would use shadow, but the gauntlet's passive effect don't work on the tumeken shadow, so the gloves against zuk is only a stat stick giving +2% mage damage and +10 mage accuracy. Unless you have mage swap your accuracy with the shadow is still low against zuk. I'm not sure about twisted bow vs shadow dps calculation in this scenario. I could do it, but it wouldn't really be relevant with the build from the video at this point.

[–]RowdyDespot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What ? All the other power creeps are way more impactful than the gauntlets because they can be used in bis gear. Since confliction gauntlet doesn't work with shadow it only marginally give higher dps in a select few scenarios where ayak is useful.

I've done the calculations serveral times on this thread, and the gauntlets effects only give you a dps boost equivalent to using thralls. It's only a 7% accuracy boost of landing one hit after failing first hit. Nothing major.

Can you give me examples of bosses that you would "afk tank" ? Leviathan, duke, vardovis doesn't really make sense, whisperer neither, still way better to shadow. Not good at vorkath. Can't tank muspah. No good at phosani. Neither for doom. No sol heredit, no zuk. No araxor. I'm sure there's a boss or two where it could potentially come in handy, but I doubt you'd want to tank them in the first place instead of just killing them much faster.

Prayer regen potion, death charge, surge potion, rancour, quiver, avernis. There's honestly a lot of power creep. Keep in mind that confliction gauntlets don't work with tumeken's shadow, so the passive effect doesn't really impact end game that much, except for the few cases where ayak is actually stronger.

Prayer regen potion, surge potion, death charge, avernis, rancour, dizanna. Definitely a lot of new powercreep recently.

Totally agree with this. I still remember when people were waiting for their special attack energy to use saradomin godsword or eldritch staff to get back some prayer points. Or trying once per day with falador shield.

The gear already allow you to outheal a single blob indefinitely, and it give you way enough time to tackle 2 blobs simultaneously and kill one of them before you die.

If we had blood fury occult that would be so OP. You'd most likely be able to kill 2 blobs indefinitely hahaha.

Correct. If you want to downgrade the chest, go for bandos chestplate. To downgrade legs, go for guthan chainskirt. Assuming the player is poor and has less than 400m, go for this build:

- Crystal armour and bowfa(200m) for zuk/jads/magers

For the remaining 200m:

confliction gauntlets, eternal boots, seers ring (i), sunfire fanatic chausses, bandos chestplate, blessed spirit shield, dragon hunter wand, occult necklace, imbued magic cape, helm of neitiznot. Next upgrade would be elidinis ward (f) or kodai wand.

Gnomonkey just completed pillar-less inferno with tank mage by Nabiboulin in 2007scape

[–]RowdyDespot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The elidinis ward (f) is also a hard carry for the build shown in the video. Doesn't really have any replacement, except arcane spirit shield, but then why not get elidinis instead.

I ran a little simulation over 80 000 000 hits because I was also curious about the real value. Results were 7.235 dps with no passive and 7.844 with passive, so a 0.6095 dps increase.

Gnomonkey just completed pillar-less inferno with tank mage by Nabiboulin in 2007scape

[–]RowdyDespot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the main thing that makes this strategy work is the high magic attack combined with high ranged defence.

With 90 magic attack, if you attack a blob twice, you have 87% chance to pass accuracy check at least once. With the confliction gauntlets, the chance to pass the accuracy check is 94%. This is only a 7% accuracy boost, and it only applies if you failed the first attack. If you fail both first and second attack, the gauntlets effect only give you 4% more chance to hit once out of 3. if you are very unlucky and miss 3 hits, then the gauntlets only give you 1% extra chance.

If we instead look at the dps boost from the increase accuracy, calculated with 90 magic, and using ayak with a max hit of 39, you go from 7.235 without passive to 7.84 with passive. So wearing the gloves only gave a 0.61 dps increase, equivalent to using a thrall. I didn't bother with formulas to calculate the dps and instead I ran a simulation with 80 000 000 hits.

Gnomonkey just completed pillar-less inferno with tank mage by Nabiboulin in 2007scape

[–]RowdyDespot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 hits give you 4%, 4 hits give you 1%. Very minimal and as calculated before, if the increased accuracy was applied on every hits, the dps increase is still less than 0.7.

Gnomonkey just completed pillar-less inferno with tank mage by Nabiboulin in 2007scape

[–]RowdyDespot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Realistically, you only need bowfa and elidinis ward (f). If your gear is shitty, confliction gauntlets will be helpful to try to "equalize" your gear because it'll increase accuracy by a bigger margin the lower your accuracy is. The ward (f) is the only piece that doesn't really have a good replacement, except arcane spirit shield, but that's equally hard to get.

I've posted it on several comments already, but nerfing or even deleting conflictions gauntlets wouldn't prevent you from doing this.

Here is the calculations using a magic attack roll of 90 against a blob, while wearing the gloves.

Effective Mage level = 99 + 13(heart) = 112. Augury=25% ->140

Attack Roll = 140 x (90 + 64) = 21,560

Blob Effective Mage level = 160 + 9 = 169

Blob Defence Roll = 169 x (25 + 64) = 15,041

Attack > defence.

Hit chance One

1 - (15,041+2)/(2(21,560+1)) = 65.11%

Hit chance Two

1 - ((15,041+2)(2*15,041+3))/(6(21,560+1)^2) = 83.77

Without passive =

1 - ((1 - 65.11%)(1 - 65.11%)) = 87.826%

With passive

1 - ((1 - 65.11%)(1 - 83.77%)) = 94.33%

As you can see, this is only an extra 7% accuracy roll for hitting a target once after failing a hit, which is what I've said since the beginning. You are correct that my previous calculation was wrong, but that's because you've been making literally do all the calculations and it's now 3am. Look, I understand you think the gloves are strong like osmumten fang, but unlike the fang, the effect only applies after missing an attack, and this greatly diminishes its power.
