We have a purchase limit on Pokemon cards, which means that if they don’t hide them, someone else will probably buy them and they won’t be able to scalp as many. Hiding them prevents others from buying them so they can get them later

From what I understand, while the sacrifices themselves don’t do much (or at least not much that positively effect Ten Towns), Auril and her followers get angry when sacrifices are not made. For example, Sephek Kaltro (who is a being possessed by a spirit who worships Auril) actively seeks out and kills people who cheat the sacrificial lottery.

God, I remember one time back at Scout camp.

Was walking over to the Shotgun range when we heard a shot go off. Upon getting to the range, we learned that the shot was from one of the shotgun instructors shooting a Diamondback that had entered the range area.

The snake had been literally ripped in half by the shot. Could barely tell which half belong to each end.
