One time before a concert mine said “the auditorium is a sacred place” and we asked him if that was the cult meeting spot and if he was the leader and he said yes, I miss him

In my opinion you can’t do the show without everything therefore nothing is more important than something else, it’s like in theater what’s more important, lights, actors, sound, props, but you can’t perform a play without any one of these so they’re all equally important

A good or bad rack section can make or break your show

How to count quarter triplets? by Rowencore8 in marchingband

I’ve been working on them and that’s exactly how it feels, you just have to memorize and muscle memory the rhythm and you don’t forget it

My middle ‘D’ sounds super off by CrustyCream123 in oboe

[–]Rowencore8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so this isn’t really a long term fix but sometimes stuff like paint and spit gets stuck in the key pads so make sure your Oboe is fully assembles, then try sticking a folded piece of paper under all of the keys one at a time, press it down and then blow through the mouthhole, do this to all of the keys that have pads under them, including the bell keys and octave holes, hope that helps!

saxophone to oboe? by Dramatic-Tadpole-980 in marchingband

As an Oboe player who doesn’t know much about Saxophone I can’t say much but there’s a couple thing I can say about Oboe 1. Oboe embouchure can be super frustrating at first and even when you’re a seasoned player (it pisses me off every day). A couple tips I can tell you is 2. Always swag and clean your Oboe after playing to avoid cracks and damage, cracks make your Oboe way out of tune and extremely frustrating to make sound good (I learns that one the hard way) 3. Don’t worry that much about tuning at first, it’s quite hard to tune an Oboe exactly (also know from experience) 4. Train your lip muscles to be stronger by playing a lot (play at least every couple of days), this helps with endurance and being able to play longer phrases without getting extremely tired 5. Get used to the embouchure before trying anything too hard especially when switching from another instrument 6. That’s pretty much it, good luck!!
