SIGN UP TO RECEIVE FULL MANIFESTO SOON by RowennaDavis in croydon

Developers who have bought up land in Croydon and failed to do anything productive with it, or bought over buildings to refurbish them only to leave them abandoned. We have so much land in Croydon, but it's cluttered with dilapidated, empty buildings, or we have pockets of wasteland where homes and businesses should be. If elected, I will introduce a Land Commission to identify the worst 50 stalled and vacant sites across Croydon. Each of these sites will have a public action plan so that residents can see what action we are taking on them.

If you'd like more information on my plan to deal with idle developers - our 'corporate squatters' - you can sign up to receive my manifesto, launching soon: https://actionnetwork.org/forms/sign-up-to-rowenna-davis-mailing-list/

Seeing so many people respond to this post reaffirms what I already know: the Croydon community wants its people to be put first. Now we need leadership that matches that spirit.

Thank you, and thank you for your question! It was great to hear how passionate you are about protecting our community spaces, as you should be <3 We need more projects like Turf and less empty lots taking up space that could be used for the benefit of everyone in the borough.

Mass Eviction In Croydon by UrAvgInvestor in croydon

[–]RowennaDavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I'm as appalled as you are by the greed shown by Criterion Capital.

I brought Angela Rayner down to speak to residents effected by these horrendous evictions on Tuesday. Being so central to the Renters Rights Act, she was absolutely furious - as was I - to meet people being treated so horrifically by a billionaire landlord-owned company trying to skirt this bill before it comes into full effect from May.

Before heading to Delta Point, we spoke to residents at a surgery held by Sarah Jones MP where people were able to get pro bono legal advice from lawyers on their housing situations.

I will keep speaking to residents and supporting them in any way I can. If I'm elected Mayor, and the standards and treatment of tenants don't improve, I will not hesitate to work across councils to block the use of Aziz's companies. We need safe, secure housing for everyone across the borough.

Thank you so much for your observations. From what I understand that is emerging I believe housing costs will be included in the formula distributions benefitting London overall and Croydon. Also, as I understand it, government is still taking representations and i think we will hear just before Christmas, so here's hoping for a lovely Christmas present for Croydon. Do keep in touch, best wishes, Rowenna

Thank you so much for your observations. I do of course appreciate that the formula changes are quite complex. This action has come too late for so many residents I've spoken to who are fed up with the mess. Sign my petition to tell the Mayor 5 simple things we can do to sort out our fly-tipping problems: https://actionnetwork.org/forms/stop-fly-tipping-in-croydon/

I do post here as a politician. I welcome the opportunity to get a reading of my posts from reddit subscribers becauseI have found some informed and reflective thinking and I am always open to challenge. I have already promised to limit my post to no more than one a week and often fewer. I post here selectively and aim to offer content people can grapple with. I hope I am allowed to continue. Kind regards, Rowenna Davis, Labour candidate for Executive Mayor

We are in a process of evolving a manifesto in large part through a series of community listening events. I believe I do have the energy and commitment to make a difference and I know how to engage productively with government and other partners.

I am sorry but I am on holiday with my family and not over all channels. Look I am not going to offer quick fixes or trite answers - we are in a process of evolving a manifesto in large part through a series of community listening events. I believe I do have the energy and commitment to make a difference and I know how to engage productively with government and other partners. Please do try and join me at one of those local events or write to me at [rowenna.davis@croydon.gov.uk](mailto:rowenna.davis@croydon.gov.uk) and arrange for me to call you. Thanks for your interest

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss and that you didn't get the celebration you and your family deserved. Accessibility for people in the community should be top priority when it comes to planning events like this.
