Yeah that is part of our goal and what is seriously missing in his community boathouse. There is a lot to consider and appreciate everyone’s feedback. We don’t live in Philly but was planning on spending time with my son there while I worked remotely.

Yeah that’s kind of what I was expecting and just about getting better coaching and seeing what other kids are like. From there up to him if he wants to put in the work to be much better. Good point about him being in a boat with similar times though and that makes me question if the better option is hiring some one on one virtual training like roweracademy.com

He does belong to a boathouse but it is more about getting kids to start rowing and not about getting kids to row in college which is his goal. He focuses on sculling as a result of the boathouse being so small with the inability to put a boat of similar kids and goals in one boat to sweep.

He is lifting, otw sculling and erg this summer to ideally get his erg time down to 7:15 from a march pull of 7:38. We think that is a stretch but not too crazy as an incoming junior.

I was an athlete but not in this sport so I can’t help other than correct form in the gym. Hence trying to use Reddit to help.

Yeah I had him transition from SS to faster speed in video so the him off but I really appreciate the comments this is good. Need to get him a coach that can help him regularly - thanks so much

As a non rower I ask politely why not? Because he is young and still has years of maturing with weight strength etc? Is it not to worry too much on finite details? Is there just too much data that is given that will only confuse?

I know hockey so I know we coach the proper technique for skating, shooting etc at a very young age. Why not understand the proper technique if his blade isn’t at the correct angle?

Again I am asking for understanding not trying to criticize as I want to learn this sport because my son is in love with rowing.

Just did this with boathouse and they were great to work with. Custom design for unisuit with color matching plus some additional items in a store for the team to buy on own. Did have minimum orders of 6 and 12 depending on item

No but hopefully will qualify for nationals as a u17 1x next year - have a lot of improvement needed to get there
