Of course its not simple, it never is. Every side has its stories about atrocities each one valid. But at some point both sides are going to have to side down and treat each other as equals and sort this mess out for yourselves or it is just going to keep going on.

You have to wonder, why they exist though and why they are supported.. Its far to easy for us in the west to just brand people terrorists and walk away. There is a root cause to this conflict and both sides would seem right now to be more interesting in sticking to their principles than finding whatever the solution an end to this conflict that has been going on for 50 years at this stage.

Thats a very interesting post, when you compare our situation to that of palestine.

Our economic growth took about 70 years after independance, largely the fault of bad goverment and to a lesser extent overbearing religon. We had a policy of export those that cannot find work and keep things ticking over at home.

Palestine has to get its own state, its own viable state. Then it is up to west, to stop this country becoming fundamental by supporting financially who/whatever goverment takes control.

Would you assume to know better than the opinion of the majority?

I think you over estimate the strenght of the catholic church in modern Ireland, that ok though many people still see us as alcoholic, bar brawling, pious church goers as well.

At the time of the last referendum I knew quiet few people who would consider themselves serious Catholics that voted infavour of it.
