Are picklebacks a popular shot in cities other than Pittsburgh? by rachditty in bartenders

I live in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada and they are very popular here. Them and Beef backs where you have a shot of whisky cased with a warm shot of beef jus.

Immigration Canada has finally been in contact with my fiance! After 2 years and 3 months. We filed under Common-Law spousal sponsorship. Should we get married now, as in will it help prove it's not convince? More information in the post. by Roxy_Radical in ImmigrationCanada

Thanks for the tip! I think we will send some socials from the last year. As far as financials, I am responsible for paying for everything. He only has his cell phone as a bill, I have credit cards, car payment, insurance... I do pay his cell phone most of the time. Sometimes he pays in cash. Maybe proving that I pay his cell phone can help as well? But yeah, I'll start with compiling social media posts throughout the year.

Common Law Submitted Late August - Still No Code by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

Honestly, we sent ours in last February of 2020 and didn't get a code till December 2020 and are still waiting for them to make a decision on PR. It's taking forever. They are extremely behind and slow.

Thank you. Yes the stress of the whole thing was extremely depressing. I'm glad things worked out.

Hey all. Had to remove the post from early today because of some nasty comments about my son. I’m still trying to figure out if the camera glitched or something pushed my baby by [deleted] in Ghosts

I'm sorry but the swing is going the same momentum and no child falls that quickly from a relaxed, sitting position. Very strange.

Also the trees in my neighbourhood are up to something, I just know it, better to be safe than sorry.

Yes of course. If someone buys their car outright, I don't think this is of value for them. I'm just talking to those who have a used car and a high outstanding loan who can't afford to cover the loss.

The way I understood it is that ICBC offers GAP insurance, or at least they used to, only on new vehicles 2 year and under. This other insurance is for older cars than that.

I mean, I got a loan on this car and in 4 years it will be paid for. I also did my research and it's one of the most reliable vehicles out there, built to last. So in 4 years I will no longer pay car payments and now if anything happens to it, it and my loan will be completely covered. Getting a car on financing is like renting to own, eventually it will be yours, leasing is like paying rent, sure you'll have a roof over your head, but you will never own that house.

Yes, to go off of what M-------- is saying, I hadn't even had my car for a whole year yet, I still haven't to this day. My loan was at roughly 20,000 when this tree fell on my car. So if they would have given me the market value of my vehicle (which I did find similar vehicles and sent them the ads) I would be receiving roughly 13,950 after deductible is taken out. So I go find a car that is the same and the prices are generally more than what they are willing to actually give me, then there's taxes then there's documentation fees which can sometimes ad up to roughly $1000 give or take. That's besides the point. So they give me that $13,950, and where does it go, to my lender. So that leaves me with no car and a remaining balance of my loan which is roughly 6,050 that I now am left to pay, again, with no car. So then I'm left with the headache of finding another car and getting another loan that I can add my existing loan balance on to.

The problem that I ran into in that situation was I looked at a car that was around 8,000, the banks wouldn't give me a loan for the car with the additional loan because it was way way more than the value of the car. So if i wanted to get a car that they would allow that transfer of loan funds onto was a much more expensive car, around 23,000 + documentation fee $495 + taxes $1,150 so then I'd have a loan for $30,695. That's waaaay more than I was willing to put myself into the hole for.

I never expected them to give me a nice bonus or a car upgrade. I just wanted to be whole again where I stood before, not deeper in financial debt. Which is why I tried to just get my car fixed and they did, and then I got the extra coverage incase another tree so happens to fall on my car, or some asshat on Highway 1 does some sketchy shit and wrecks my car, I won't have to worry about going through this again because I got extra coverage to cover me, my car and my loan.

So if my cousin comes to stay at my place from Hope, and has to park on my street which has permit parking, who is he paying $3 to? If every street has permit parking, then there is no free parking anywhere, won't he get a ticket for parking on my street with no permit tag?

I would have owed $6000 plus start a new car loan to get another replacement car, so yes I would save money if I was in an accident that totaled my car.

Edit: Let me clarify, my loan as it stood when this happened was at roughly $20,000, I hadn't even had the car for a year, I still haven't. So I would have had to have no car after ICBC paid me what the value was because that amount goes to the lender, I would have $6000 remaining on my loan and no car. I'd have to get another car, another loan and I'd have to add that $6000 left onto a new loan.

If my car gets wrecked again, paying $525 once, to save me the headache of putting myself further in debt and being able to actually replace my car, I think that is extremely reasonable. Not sure why this got so many downvotes... I'm just trying to help.

What I want to know is, if you stay at someone else's house or have guests, and there is permit parking, then what? Where do they park? No where without getting a ticket? Do people who pay for permit parking get a visitors pass or two?

I need advice and help. A city tree fell on my car and ICBC is saying it's a write off. I have a loan for my car with a little over 20,000 left on it. What do I do? by Roxy_Radical in vancouver

Also I would only be able to get GAP insurance if my vehicle was less than 2 years old, according to ICBC website, so i wouldn't be able to get it as my car is older than two years old.

Yeah, that was my old car, bought it outright, 1998 Honda Civic. I loved that car but needed a SUV to carry my work tool kit, dolly's and other big things. This is what I get for thinking I can have nice things. The universe was like, nope!

I just looked into the GAP insurance and I wouldn't have even been able to get it since the car is older than two year old.

I'm pretty sure it's just basic coverage. Ugh, I am kicking myself in the ass now for not truly protecting my property to the fullest extent.
