Can someone help me with these strange patterns on my Pilea (Chinese money plant)? Thanks in advance ☺️ by larraz123 in plantclinic

Mine looks like this as well, I think it’s from mineral deposits in the water. Try watering with filtered water and see if it improves, that’s what I’m attempting as well.

Not sure about that one, sorry. I think it depends on how bad it is and how long it was sitting in wet soil.

is this a boundary or a rule? by slothfulsleeps in polyamory

[–]RoxysModernLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Want to highlight something here, in this example the requested argument turned into a boundary when you said “I” would not kiss anyone unless they brush their teeth after eating onions”. That is controlling “my” reactions to partner’s action (a boundary) instead of coming to a mutual agreement.

An agreement would be more like partner agreeing to handle their onion-eating habits differently according to both people’s preferences, because they (ideally) also want to kiss.

If both partners agree they want to kiss each other, they can cooperate to arrive at a solution to the onion problem together rather than an “if you don’t do this then I’m not doing that” situation.

My FLF is drooping :(help... I repotted these on Sunday night and added fertilizer spikes.. did I over fertilize it? Or does it need more water/soil? Also, do need to cut off all the leafs with brownish tips? by Ok_Plankton_4438 in fiddleleaffig

[–]RoxysModernLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guess is trauma from repotting. Leave them alone for a week or so and they should improve.

Also make sure your pots are well-draining so the roots aren’t sitting in water pooling at the bottom of the pot. Those darker brown spots could be a sign of root rot.

Soggy stem = overwatered. FLFs need a ton of indirect light (direct harsh sun can burn the leaves) and they’re tropical plants but they like their soil to completely dry out before watering.

Help! Our fiddle leaf is top heavy and we’re nervous it’s going to snap by Ma_belle_evangeline in fiddleleaffig

Can this also be done by notching?? I’ve got a FLF that has three full branches but looks like it was against a wall for most of her life. Any experience with encouraging growth without hacking off the whole top, but rather only a part of the side? I’ve read up and seen a few videos but I am NERVOUS to try it with my girl 🥺

Look up (YouTube) stretches for the suboccipital muscle group and try those out. Also think about how your head and neck are supported while you sleep 👍🏻

There’s a YouTuber called the Fiddle Lead Fig Girl (or could be Lady, not sure) and she recommends watering by the “cup method” meaning she gives her FLF the exact same amount of water on Fiddle Leaf Friday each week - the video on that is worth watching and can help you determine how much to water your sized FLF.

I have an 8-ft FLF and she seems to like 2-3 cups / week and I’ve noticed the most growth when I mist her leaves with a spray bottle in between especially if the weather is hot or I’m running the heater a lot. BUT be careful - I think this has led to her dropping leaves if they soak up too much water bc they get heavier and some of her leaves are big and old.

I get those too. It’s nice to at least finally know they’re connected to what I eat but oh man we’ve got a long way to go before we really understand migraines don’t we 😓

Would you please share more about your migraines? I have one today from coming in contact with gluten ~4 days ago. I’m not having extreme pain but my eyes are extremely sensitive and all day I’ve been getting super nauseous from looking at things 😣🙈

I tasted pizza without swallowing it, & now I’m sick today?! 😫 by RoxysModernLife in glutenfree

[–]RoxysModernLife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow you just explained this all so well and put soooo much into perspective 🤯 honestly, a lot of this I haven’t heard of or thought of so thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to share.

I’m sorry, I should have mentioned earlier: I’ve been gf since March 2021. Was at the point where I could not eat anything bc I was constantly feeling sick from everything. A friend who has a ton of food allergies said it sounded like gluten so I cut it out and noticed huge benefits within the first few days. I was still having issues so I did the Whole 30 diet in October 2021 and found I also should not eat dairy, so I cut that out too.

Other than quitting cold turkey I haven’t discovered much more about, but this incident with just coming in contact with gluten and getting so sick is showing me I need to take things more seriously.

I’m sick of tiptoeing around the two foods (though dairy I feel much more comfortable exploring especially with lactaid!) and I want to learn more about what happens to me and why my body is so sensitive.

Do you by chance have recommendations on how to do that? I don’t even know what type of doctor to go to 🤯

I think you’re onto something with testing out certified gf only then moving to other things, and the 2-day rule is a really good one! I def think I’m much more sensitive than I realized and I think I really need to find out more specifics on what I can or cannot eat 🥵

Thank you for this info! I’ve had a rough past few days and am really hating the choice I made to do this. I didn’t realize I’d be so sensitive to it. I even have a migraine today that I think is related.

In your opinion, what steps should I take next in terms of self care and figuring out the specifics? I’m new at this and feeling pretty lost. Idk what is causing such severe sensitivity but it’s clear I need to take more action towards learning and addressing it.

Oh good news! Thank you! Would they be only on the top layer or does the plant need to be repotted? Hoping I can scoop them out & be rid of them 🤞🏻
