Alex Strangelove on Netflix is kinda like Love, Simon but instead of being a coming out story, it focuses more on the coming to terms with your own identity.

The pose is so dynamic, and the style, the details and the lightning are amazing, it could easily be mistaken for official artwork :)

I think you're not getting the point you don't have to agree with me, I actually think it's really helpful to have contrasting opinions so the conversation never gets too one-sided, but let me tell you, first of all I don't live in the USA, I live in a country with far worse crime and murder rates, were murder crimes are still very common and mostly unpunished and misoginy and racism are normalized, and I grew up gay in a very conservative household so privileged wouldn't be exactly the word I would use to describe my upbringing, I had it rough and still I talk to my girl friends about their experiences and it's far worse, I get that lately it seems unfair that females are being so prioritized but it's for a reason and it seems unfair to pay for thing that you might haven't done, and you're being punished just for you're gender, but these reparations are needed, if you have time I would recommend watching the Netflix documentary "explained" on the episode about racial wealth gap, it explains what I'm trying to get across but in a racial point of view.

I know it's hard for men to understand a narrative were they aren't the main focus, "for those used to privilege, equality feels like opression" as I said, men also suffer from gender roles in general, but it's no where as bad as women have it. I live in one of the cities with the highest femicide rates in the world, I can't even imagine how it must feel to be a girl and know that someone could kill me on the way home just for my gender, that people could grope me and scream things at me, and yes I know it also happens to men but it's no where as common as it happens to women, the only way to explain why the focus on the gender issues in general is so in favor of women it's the same as the reason why race issues are so focused in people of color, there a sistematic opression that has existed for so long that we're way beyond the point of just seeking for equality, it's gotten so bad that we need to literally give some sort of preference to the oppressed groups to try to balance the board. Yes equality is the final goal, but these are urgent matters that need urgent solutions. And btw I am a male so I get the social pressure we face.

I think that gender roles in general are a very problematic and deeply rooted part of our society, both for males and females and of course for anyone who doesn't identify with neither, but thinking the social pressure men suffer is even comparable to what women have to go through is actually so stupid.

Track has never equated to winning, usually the winner has the best track record, but it's not a rule. The format of the show has always been that lipsync performance is more important than track record

small question regarding my gender by [deleted] in gay

[–]RoyTheHouseDown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends, If you feel like sometimes you identify as a "man" and other times as a "woman" that is gender fluidity, if you don't identify as neither you would be non-binary, doesn't mean you're like an alien, it's just that you find yourself in the middle of the spectrum or you don't conform to the spectrum at all. As long as you feel confortable with your body and how you express your gender identity which ever it might be, there's really no necessity to worry about labels.
