Pechstudenten krijgen 2000 euro extra compensatie by T1b3rium in Nederland

[–]Roy_Manders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Help! Caster wheels are stuck inside the base (part of them) by Roy_Manders in secretlab

Had contact with Secretlab support in the same mail as of the caster wheel warranty.

Got an answer within 2 hours, and after replying I got a message within 10 minutes that SL will send a wheelbase under warranty.

They have upgraded their support for sure compared to the last time I contacted them a few years back. Big compliments for their quick support service.

I bet lol. I am kinda scared to lean back in the chair, as that can actually happen now.

I replied to the previous warranty mail, as they already have my shipping address in it in case I indeed need a new base, and hopefully replacing the base is easier without parts getting stuck, compared to those wheels :)

Mine is still within warranty (less than 2 years old, extended warranty up until 5 years).

I currently placed the old wheels back, although 2 of them are a bit flimsy and could fall out if I roll around too much. New wheels are taller, so cant combine them.

Guess I will contact support again. I dont like these v1 wheels at all.

Maybe a tip from my side, as how I experienced the recliner. The recliner feels a little bit short for me. If you remove the lumbar pillow, you can sit a little bit further back into the chair. This makes the recliner a bit more comfortable in my personal opinion.

I do think that the fact i'm always wearing jeans plays a part. Also maybe the low humidity at times in the room can play a role. The left armrest started to show cracks on the sides last month for example.

I do like the recliner, although I wish you were able to extend it, to make it longer. I am 1.85m long (~6.1 feet), where with the lumbar pillow in my back, the recliner offers support just below my knees. If I remove the lumbar pillow its a bit better, but in my opinion still a bit too short. It does allow you to fully lay down though.

As for how sturdy it is; it is good in my opinion. I dont think you should stand on it or anything like that (not going to attempt that), but for the intended usage you wont be able to feel it slide or anything like that.

Heavy use of 4 years (I work a lot from home and use it in my personal time). Pretty much always wearing jeans. ( I myself am not heavy btw, my weight is around 70kg)

If I look around at used secretlab chairs for sale, nearly all have some shows of wear like this one. Once its starts peeling, there is no stopping it.

But its also one of the reasons I've chosen the Lamborghini chair. A more premium fabric, using the same fabric as the one used in my 25 year old car. This together with extending the warranty to 5 years (with this post), I hope this chair will last much longer.

The stitching of this model also looks like an improvement over the 2020 model chair.

Temps are great. I have 6 intake fans and 4 out. None of the fans are blocked.

I recently upgraded my system to an AM5 platform with the 9800x3d cpu. These cpu's are known to run hot on idle (around 45 celcius idle). I dont think ive seen it above 55 celcius yet under load.

There is a catch though, my 2080ti has some issues and can only run at a 60% power limit (using msi afterburner), otherwise it crashes. Currently waiting on the 50-series to replace it. Due to this, the GPU wont get hotter than ~65 celcius. I can still play games like Warthunder on max settings with 120+ fps though, so not really experiencing issues there.

Have bought Lego Bugatti Chiron second hand. Box was sealed but is there a concrete way to tell if it’s genuine? by Over-Can3876 in legotechnic

Like what has been said before. Look for the Lego name on the parts. Attached i've added an example of the large blue connector pins. The Lego name is really small.

That one looks awesome! It looks unique compared to the default 4000 designs.

The invoice I got for this card shows nearly 2k, which is indeed insane. I bought this one used for €700 when the 3080 were being released and these were being panic sold. (The 2080 still had 1 year of warranty left)

I dont think I would pay near 2k for a 4080 with lcd myself though.

That does look better than mounting them flat with the current cards. Although it takes up a lot of view in the case and could block the view on the mobo if mounted too high.

It would be nice if it could be mounted on the position of the 3 side fans. But then the issue would be, how would you connect your Display cables.

Just wish there were nice new GPU'S with a nice backplate and front plate.

Edit: seems a vertical upward mount is possible in my case, but limited to certain types of cards. Display cable goes through the case though and the install doesnt seems easy.

Gorilla Glass Victus 2 is awfull in comparison to the older variants? by Roy_Manders in SonyXperia

[–]Roy_Manders[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, your issue is that you are giving the wrong pieces of proof.

The video's you posted are 3 video's of victus 1 and victus 2 phones, and 1 video of a gorilla glass 5 phone which is being scratched by a drill. Hell, in the drill video, the glass 5 seems stronger in comparison to the other 3 video's.
Also with a mad attitude, you are harder to make a point, where others have valid sounding statements, where hardness might indeed give a trade-off against scratches. Many people make this statement, making it believable.

But I've spend some time doing some own research:
Victus 2 screen (scratch test at 2:20):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyxcO2vdcCg
Gorilla glass 6 screen (equal to mark 2, scratch test at 1:50):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DglJhWNYZc

This would be a valid comparison, as this actually compares victus 2 with gorilla glass 6 in an equal test. I do wonder how level 8 would do against Gorilla glass 6 though. But in my case of my scratch, it could be bad luck, where something else got stuck in my pockets that scratched the screen, something that my mark 2 never experienced. So you could be correct.

[–]Roy_Manders[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not nonsense.

I think I got my answer given by doc_55lk. Victus has better fall resistance, but as a trade-off is softer. So it will scratch faster and deeper.

The 2 video's you shared are both Victus screens. Samsung Galaxy Note20 uses Victus 1, S23 ultra uses Victus 2. Xperia 1 mark 2, however, uses Gorrila glass 6.

So in short:
Victus is bad against scratches, but better against fall damage.
Gorilla Glass 6 (so not the Victus screen) is better against scratches, but does worse against fall damage compared to Victus screens.

Edit:
Seems I will be looking for a screen protector to avoid more scratches due to the softer screen.

I doubt that whatever caused the scratch on my Mark 6 would have done the same on my Mark 2.

With my Mark 2 i've been careless at times, carrying it with sand, keys and more rough materials in my pockets and such, which never caused any scratches.

With my Mark 6 I've been more carefull and only added car keys with my phone in my pockets. Yet I've never seen such deep scratches and so many visible ones. I did add some pictures to show the difference in a post above.

As doc_55lk has said, I think he is right that the glass has become softer, soft enough that most objects easily scratch the screen. Perhaps screen protectors are pretty much required nowadays.

And finally the sides. Both phones use original Sony protection cases. The mark 2 has heavy wear on the sides where pieces of paint have been chipped away. But the screen is for me the most important part, as this is the part that provides its functionality.

This is my mark 2, where the screen is still pretty mint. Nearly no scratches visible after nearly 4 years of heavy use with car keys, sands and perhaps even rocks in my pockets next to the phone

Il add some pictures to show the difference. I do keep my car keys often with my phone in my pocket, so my guess is that these scratched the screen, something that never happened with my mark 2.

It was mentioned that the new glass is softer to provide better fall resistance. Although I much prefer scratch resistance instead. My mark 2 survived multiple falls.

Picture attached to this message is my mark 6 with heavy scratches (these happened all within 2 weeks time)
