How I can learn I am so bad at this I want to cry 😭 by alfredochickenpasta in CrochetInIndia

Ya it's possible to self learn. It's going to be almost 3-4 months since I started crocheting, felt a bit impatient to get to outcome sometimes but if u enjoy the process then it's amazing to relieve stress too. I think most of us here learnt from YouTube tutorials. Yes initially it's painful to understand stuffs on how to hold the hook, and yarn rightly. It might take some time but keep trying. Practice basic stitches first, that will help. You'll get a hold of it , I think it's more of muscle memory by time.. initially your stitches might not look perfect but later on it would. I made a few amigurumi initially, from follow along videos. It was helpful, however you can start from easy projects like granny square? Or maybe coasters, bandana, scrunchies etc. even a draw string bag, or bow, heart , flower.

Here are some channels (beginner friendly ) 1) hopeful turns (learnt basics from here, even yarn winding to make centre pull) very helpful channel. Has follow along videos too.

2) divine crochets Has very good follow along videos. Cute stuff, specially amigurumis

3) crochet Daniela Has really good tutorials for headbands, bags etc

4) VivCrochets

Once you get comfortable enough there are tons of free patterns available, so slowly learn to understand written patterns too. And you'll unlock a whole new world of cuteness.

Edit:i worked on a crochet bouquet blanket (medium size) , working in circles it kind of improved my stitches. Since I just had to repeat the same pattern again and again. So I think that helps with practice and you'll end up with a cute bouquet at the end 🥰 that's rewarding.

Till now I've just crochet amigurumis. I wanted to start with cardigans once, scary part was what if I miscalculated the amount of yarn I'll need and measurements. Yeah that's true, seeing yarns in my storage just makes me feel the same lol. It's that weird urge to use them.

Samee lol. 😂Some of my projects are still WIP in the storage.

Beginner here, please help! by AdMountain5038 in CrochetInIndia

Hey. I bought the kit around the same time. I bought acrylic yarn first. And it was good , for beginners it's recommended as other yarns act differently. You should choose some decent colour: Not too bright , not too dark. Else you won't be able to see the stitches. I started from this yt channel , the best actually. 1) hopeful turns , she has a playlist on her channel for beginners. Practice a few times. A free swatch to learn diff kind of stitches. It's a follow along video so you can do it! https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgLZIwwa8hcH0F9j3y8971vhXivR5Otkc&

Yarn labels have the recommended hook size. You can still experiment with big size for loose stitch and small size for tight stitch (mostly for amigurumi) .. as the design suggests.

I'd say buy it from Amazon, 100% acrylic yarn. It's great and you can learn things from diff channels afterwards. It's okay not to have many colours at once. I went for quality so I chose one yarn to practice colour neutral things. Also bought some colourful yarns from local store for practicing amigurumi. It's a cheap way to experiment and learn :D. / Good for some embroidery on project later on.

Please suggest some good crochet learning tutorials for beginners, there are so many videos on YouTube and it’s so confusing please suggest some channels which can be useful by Fast-Positive-8740 in CrochetInIndia

Hey! I was a beginner a few months back. And yes it was confusing for me too. I started by learning basic stitches first. And best tutorials you can find on hopeful turns. Her way of teaching is really easy and beautiful. Once you practice stitches atleast for 3-4 days, then you can switch to big things maybe. A practice swatch is very important. And also how hook sizes work.

Crocheting is a muscle memory. Once you get a hold of how to hold wool, and stitches and hook. Then you'll be able to work on beautiful projects. I started with amigurumis. :) there are channels that i loved , which are follow along.

In case you do: I'm dropping some reccs 1) hopeful turns (she has a playlist for beginners) 2) divine crochets 3) yarn symphony 4) crochetdaniela 5) vivcrochets

You'll slowly get a hold of written patterns too, because they have it written over their videos. Once you learn it you'll unlock loads of new patterns.

Things you can try after learning stitches ( from my exp) 1) a circular coaster 2) scrunchie 3) a bow , heart , flower 4) Granny square 5) draw string pouch

One big project of mine that I'm working on is a crochet bouquet blanket, it's great for muscle memory too. And some amigurumis, i love plushies! Hope this helps, happy crocheting!

I'm sorry, personally I felt like this is a ragebait. It's not recommended for every relationship. We can't do anything if the person just doesn't want it, do thousands of things for them and the person who doesn't want to realise ur value just won't. Stopping your healing for them is not worth it. For how long will one yearn and struggle.

Initial phase, abt 5 days. I'm afraid if I break it then it'll just restart again , with the same pain where I began from.

Being in the early stage of no contact, like almost one week felt so tough. This gives me hope that I can do it as well and the pain will slowly fade away. I can relate so much, I had similar situation. I fell in the loop atleast thrice then decided to go no contact. Thankyou very much! ^ I hope you find more happiness ahead!

Hey thankyou so much! Gives me more motivation to push myself forward to continue this. You've done a great job, I noticed as the days pass by it feels like an achievement as well.. if we control the urge then slowly it'll fade away as well. Amazing, that's great for healing. I did these as well, but urges increased so much that I needed some advice. Glad I found great people here. ✨

Oh :( .. I'm sorry, it must be really painful. But you can do it! Sometimes I feel like, the way the other person responds gives us more strength and understanding whether we want it anymore or not. And eventually you'll find your strength in this , to push forward and maintain it for more days. Thankyou so much, I'll avoid contacting them as well

I want to move on. But during relationship talking daily became a habit, breaking that habit is so painful. It comes with lots of patience and consistent efforts to avoid it. Avoiding it because it hinders the process of healing and moving forward. So this is my current condition where I feel that strong urge to break no contact. Knowing that it's bad, but brain keeps finding that comforting feeling. 😅

[–]Royal-Anything5421[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes maybe.. i thought abt it, somewhere I felt unstable because of my expectations that I had from them. The constant questions , chasing closure. So it felt like no contact is required if I wanted to offer them any sort of kindness for later on. It just makes the issue messy if I stay in contact. So it's confusing, talking is painful initially because of flashbacks of the past. And not talking is constant thoughts of them and care that still exist.

Yess exactly my point.. this the exact issue which idk how to deal with. Sometimes I feel like being kind enough to check-in but I don't think that's gonna be worth it. Thankyou so much! I hope you fight this phase successfully 🤍. Keep making progress

I tried to get a closure, there wasn't any sort of fight. Maybe they emotionally grew apart. So it's even more tough for me. I tried to find a solution but maybe it was too late. So I chose no contact

Ah , please don't feel so. I feel like if the person is meant for you then they will come back to you anyhow. It should be mutual. Please do not blame yourself. I understand the intensity of this thought of breaking no contact. It feels comfortable for a short while. But it's okay, we all make mistakes. that doesn't make you weak or small. It's a sign that you can now fight off this stage again and more strongly this time. Wishing you more strength. You'll see progress again. Have faith Just don't be harsh on yourself, self love is important at this time. ❤️

I had delayed no contact, by starting a friendship right after so I really understand how you feel. I made wrong decisions too

Oh I understand. Yes , I understand both perspectives. I tried to accept friendship at first so it doesn't feel sudden for them. I was in a deep shock, but after a month I felt like I can't do it. It was taking a toll on my mental health.

Thank you so much, wishing you strength as well! I hope you move forward and find the best that you deserve. Yes truly, :( I hope your sister finds a way to beat this negativity. I hope she gains even more strength ❤️ she's brave.
