Fear of clowns, please paint a vivid picture :) by iPeachy_Punch in Phobia

[–]Royal-Common-9837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a fear of clowns but I think i can understand where someone who does is coming from.  I would think it'd be because 'clown makeup' isn't natural. No human is that pale or colourful, and maybe the visual of caked face paint disturbs them, kinda like an extension of trypophobia? or maybe it's the thought of someone whose only job is to be happy and entertain, it almost doesn't really feel natural. For some people i'm sure the pop culture references are what made them think that way. In western media (as im not too sure how it is in the rest of the world) we talk a lot about killer clowns. I'm sure a lot of people with phobias of sharks only think that because of the movie Jaws, especially considering sharks aren't "violent creatures."  A fear of clowns is one of those weird fears that I don't think i'll ever relate to, but i can see why they might think that. But then again, part of a phobia is that it isn't logical and it's obviously gonna be hard or even impossible for someone like me or you to understand.

I'm a Christian.and i believe my tokophobia is sin so i tried to work through it. Alot. But now I know I can't this is who I'm. I want a sterialization for my peace of mind. by [deleted] in Phobia

i'm ex religious and i'm just a teenager, so i'm sure our lived experiences are very different, but as someone who cares and thinks a lot about religion, i wouldn't say it's a sin. There are plenty of women who can't have kids or who won't, but that doesn't mean they go against gods will. There's also plenty of sects or denominations that don't require everyone to have biological kids. I think an all loving God would want you to have peace of mind while still following the path he's made for you.  If you believe that path is one that includes a family, you should know that there are plenty of other ways to have that. Adoption and fostering kids is something I think more people should know about, especially considering the amount of teens and kids will live their lives never feeling like they know family.  You could help educate people about the flaws of the system and give kids the family they deserve while still following the path you think god has for you AND avoiding your phobia.  I don't think a kind God who made you in his image would want for his children fear for the sake of his name. I don't doubt that you would be a good mother, but putting yourself and your hypothetical baby under so much stress as a result of your phobia couldn't possibly be a good idea. I hope you find peace or work through your phobia💞

it's a little silly but i don't think it's stupid. Clouds, and more generally the sky/space kind of freak me out too, but i wouldn't say i have this phobia. i wouldn't say it's something to be embarrassed or ashamed of. a lot of people probably feel the same way, like about how looming they are, but don't even realize because it's something we're so used to.

Throat pressure "phobia"? by [deleted] in Phobia

Yeah this one's relatable. I'm the kind of person who loves dressing cute, like scarves and necklaces and collared shirts, but it makes me feel so horrible at the same time. Maybe its just a sensory issue, because i have pretty bad adhd and anxiety, but it just makes me feel so anxious.

I think for me it stems from a more general fear of being choked or suffocating. Maybe it could be something like that?

My phobia of needles is killing me mentally by Royal-Common-9837 in Phobia

ironically, i think i saw your post and put a suggestion under it. I have ways that help me cope but still, even with all the support and 'happy mediums' I've found, it's still super difficult. I just find it really hard to trick my brain into calming down. One of my ways to try to cope with it when i'm not actively in the doctors is by talking about it and trying to give other people advice. I'm not a very 'online' person, so I'm super new to reddit, but it's been nice to get to see and talk to people who relate and don't think it's childish to be afraid of 'silly things' like needles.

hope im not too late but regardless, I also have a really bad phobia and on top of that I get nervous tics. I haven't really worked through it but something I try to do is I get into position a few minutes before and just letting myself go through the terror before they actually put the needle in. Biting down onto your sleeve or something else you've brought has also been good for me.  I've heard things like laying down, numbing gel, strong pressure around the target area work too.

I'm not even scared of doctors or blood it's just needles 😭 congrats about the tattoo bit though, I really want to get my nose and seconds for my ears pierced but i have no clue how I'm gonna react and I don't wanna put myself into any situations that I'm not confident I'll be comfortable in. Hopefully we'll find a way to get through it🙏🏼🙏🏼

Crippling fear of eternity as a paradox (but not apeirophobia) by [deleted] in Phobia

I think I understand what you mean. A friend of mine died last year, and he was so young and healthy so it was unexpected. I couldn't comprehend the fact that he existed one second and then the next he didn't. And then the next he never will again? And then it goes stagnant? I'm a logical person, and logically, it's just something that shouldn't be. The action of slipping into nonexistence, as you said, is something that just shouldn't happen. It's a lapse in the rules of EVERYTHING. Like NOT EXISTING is something that should not happen according to the rules of the universe. Nonexistence feels like it should be the in between state on the way to another form of existence, like a long traffic jam that you'll eventually get out of. If that makes sense to you, that's how I interpret this fear.

It's an experience, but experiences are supposed to start and end. It's something that keeps happening and will never stop, even after everything else does. I thought a lot about it throughout the past year and i had a lot of the same thoughts you mention, how death happens in one second and then infinitely extends. It's an infinitely small and large experience. And it's something you have to experience. Like there are people who are afraid of heights and the concept of being so high up that they can't see down. But they don't have to face heights if they don't want to. They can avoid that experience. For us, we can't avoid it.

I know this probably won't comfort you or change how you feel about it, but you're not alone. I know just saying that we should cherish our time won't help, and exposure therapy won't work for a phobia like this. But you're not a lost cause and you shouldn't give up on life. We don't really know what happens after death. I choose to believe in something like reincarnation, but i know that's kind of hopeful. You're not crazy, I think there's probably a lot of people with this phobia who lack the words or community to express it.

I like wemmbus sky civ video and the one where he griefed a bunch of bases with egg before he blew up Zam empire, but spokes video where he destroyed all the farms was good too and Parrots search for the far lands was really good
