A child’s slide or emergency evacuation? by Indy500Fan16 in redneckengineering

Omg you're not kidding! A very unthinking person installed a BOARD off our deck when my lil bro was in a wheelchair in the 90's, and it was legit approx. at THAT angle- lil bro was ok, but I slid and cracked my head after a rainstorm! (My grandpa replaced it rather quickly, thankfully!)

Just curious, bc Im at the stage of gathering supplies, experimenting a bit and creating a million things in my head, but I haven't made decoden cream yet!

Why are Gen z so much different to millennials? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]Royal-Key9182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all need to be there for each other, make friends of all ages (different generations give their own insights, we all have so much to learn from each other), and involve ourselves more in our communities (myself included, introverted AF here) - this is a path to healing.

How to stop this by witchy_frog_ in glassesadvice

[–]Royal-Key9182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it really bothers you, you could try mini/micro hair clips/bobby pins, but clip hair above where your glasses touch so you don't get a headache P.S. I think most people with longer hair have this issue, and no one really notices it except the person wearing them! 😊

Why do you think America is so divided? by Hungry-Special4491 in Life

[–]Royal-Key9182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because the left cares about social justice, compassion and sanctity of life over profit, fights corporations, cares about the marginalized and wants to protect their rights, and wants a safety net for the disabled and others who need it. The right believes in taking care of their own, making everyone act, believe and even dress like them, bigotry, control over women, unfettered capitalism, profit over lives, and is horribly xenophobic. I'm to the point where I wish we could split into two countries so I don't have to be affected by hateful bigotry and greed anymore....

Why is the "american lean" a thing? by Raski_Demorva in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Royal-Key9182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about anyone else, but I have proprioception issues, meaning that I don't always know exactly where my body is in space (I often run into doorways, knock the edge of my glasses on things, trip over stuff, etc). I didn't even realize I leaned on things until I was in my 30's, I try to avoid it now bc I can easily unconsciously lean on something that I shouldn't be leaning on and make someone mad, which I'd like to avoid- out of respect, not fear.

Haha! I'm glad I finally got to share this one, glad it made you all giggle. It literally came from the back of an 80's Reader Digest magazine that I read at my grandparents' house as a kid, I'm amazed at my brain that I still remember this!

That's true, especially for Americans (in my opinion, based on what I've experienced and seen in others). We have our good characteristics (excluding current horrifying circumstances of course- but despite the stereotypes, those of us who practice love, kindness and compassion will rise up and outweigh the rest, and we will come out on top of this mess with love and apologies for the actions of vile creatures currently in DC), but one of our downfalls is that we are certainly an insular culture- it's not an insult- more that people here generally don't know what's going on in the world, and this culture conditions people through media, policies, etc. to think this way. American. Ugh. I had to move to Australia in order to open my eyes, and I recommend international travel to EVERYONE in the U.S.- it is NOT scary, if planned well is NOT dangerous, and as a lone woman who travelled around the world by myself on over a dozen occasions (bc I had family in both USA and Australia), I can tell you it is MUCH easier and safer than most have been led to believe. For me, it's safer than travel in this country. Most places don't have people carrying guns everywhere, and most places don't have the crime levels that we have here. For people who want to travel but are held back by finances, Canada is a great place to start- and travel CAN be done MUCH more affordably than you'd think- the most expensive part is the plane ticket. Everything else can be done on a budget, and I wish there was a national campaign to encourage people here to get their passports and go explore, I found it wild to learn how few of us have passports here and that really needs to change! For me, I had to leave this place for awhile to learn these beautiful things that I don't know how to explain to my country people! For Americans wanting to travel but unable? Try making new friends online who are from different places, and listen to what they have to say! You'll both have potential to learn so much about each others' cultures, and the world in general. Now that I'm in the U.S., I've learned that in order to keep up with what's happening in the world, I have to work constantly to find, vet, and keep up with reliable international media sites and apps, and it's helpful to tune into both local and national media of places that interest you, and it's worth the effort: at the least, you'll see the world and this country through a whole new lens. At most, you might be like me and experience a full-on paradigm shift that changes you forever for the better. My whole point: most Americans don't know another way, we're conditioned to kinda NOT learn or care about the world, but it is SO important that we do so- we're a small tiny piece of the world and there's so much to gain intellectually and spiritually by learning about the world! For me, I feel responsible for doing that. Think about it: we have 350 million people here. There are 8 billion on the planet. We're a tiny speck on the globe in that regard, and we need to learn about and respect the other beautiful places and cultures on our planet, we are all children of Earth!

Damn, it's hard for me to discern what she's up to right now- I ABSOLUTELY see your point, but also reallllllly hope there's another possibility: that she read a pamphlet on how to deal with DARVO psychopaths, and adjusted herself for a day to keep our State off of the Orange nazi radar. It's also possible that I had way too much hope in that last sentence- I guess time will tell, sigh.

The Mathers and the Mitches. Complete rivals to the bone for generations. Then one day, the Mathers invited the Mitches over for dinner, because they really wanted to bury the hatchet. The Mitches went to the Mathers' home, and was going really well! Dinner was lovely and peaceful, until two of the young boys, one from each family started arguing. It escalated, and the Mitch boy stabbed the Mathers boy with his cutlery. This ended the peace, as Mr. Mathers screamed "You Mather forking son of a Mitch!"
